On 8/26/2012 Kevin C. Page of Bastrop Texas was tracked to a small house in the woods of northern Bastrop County off of Hwy 1441 by investigators with Texas Bounty Hunters, a licensed Investigations firm PSB LC# A16879.
On 08/18/2012 at approximately 23:00 while attempting to locate Kevin Page at a residence off of hwy 2571 3 miles south/east of Upton investigators with Texas Bounty Hunters came into contact with two individuals. After knocking on the door of the residence a person kicked the back door open threw an extendable baton at an investigator with Texas Bounty Hunters and attempted to escape by jumping over a barbed wire fence. The fleeing suspect was detained because he closely resembled the latest description for Mr. Page. The Bastrop County Sheriff’s office was notified by investigators for Texas Bounty Hunters and after deputies arrived on scene he was identified as Christopher Chapman and subsequently arrested for an outstanding felony warrant for theft of copper.
At approximately 20:30 on 08/25/2012 investigators for Texas Bounty Hunters received information regarding the possible whereabouts of Mr. Page from a confidential informant. It was reported that Mr. Page was traveling in a silver jeep with a person named Angela, a person who had been reported as allegedly providing assistance to Mr. Page, and whose house had previously been searched in an effort to locate Mr. Page. Though Angela denied providing Mr. Page assistance she did say he had been there. After consent to search the home for Mr. Page investigators for Texas Bounty Hunters reported finding physical evidence that Mr. Page had likely been staying at Angela’s house off of Mt. Olive in Cedar Creek TX. This evidence was turned over to the Marshals office.
According to reports, after a traffic stop of a silver jeep at approximately 22:30 on 8/25/2012 in and around the area of hwy 21 and 1441, Angela Dempsey was allegedly found to be in possession of a controlled substance and was subsequently arrested and booked into the Bastrop County Jail and charged with “POSS CS PG 1 <1G” a state jail felony.
At approximately 22:30 on 08/25/2012 investigators for Texas Bounty Hunters located the suspected house that Mr. Page had been reportedly dropped off at. After knocking on the door several times there was no response from the occupants. Investigators with Texas Bounty Hunters suspected there was someone in the residence because they reported being able to hear shuffling and bumping inside. They reported posting positions along the perimeter of the residence and sat in the dark for over 5 hours until another occupant arrived at the house at approximately 03:50 on 8/26/2012. After interviewing the resident he reportedly unlocked the door and consented to a search of the residence. During the search Mr. Page was discovered crouched inside a bathroom with a sawed off shotgun by investigators for Texas Bounty Hunters. They backed out of the residence while maintaining visual contact with Mr. Page and notified the Bastrop County Sheriff’s office and waited for deputies to arrive. After some negotiating with Mr. Page who was reportedly intending to kill himself, the Bastrop County Sheriffs deputies were able to convince Mr. Page to put the weapon down and come out peacefully. He was arrested without further incident.
The investigation by Texas Bounty Hunters yielded three arrests, two of which were felony fugitives and the third suspect who was in possession of a felony quantity of drugs.
Charges may still be pending for several people suspected of hindering apprehension by providing assistance to Mr. Page while he attempted to elude apprehension, according to the Texas Penal Code “38.05. HINDERING APPREHENSION OR PROSECUTION” the charge in this case would be a felony offense.
When asked for comment a representative for Texas Bounty Hunters said, “We would like to say thank you to all the deputies, police officers and departments who became involved in this investigation and who were responsible for it concluding with everyone, including the defendants going home or to jail safely.”
