We appreciate your enthusiasim...:)

However, to quote Scott M. : Desperate money makes bad cases...i.e. Desperate BEA's are potential lawsuits waiting to happen.

There is a thread on this forum entitiled "Entering the trade"...perhaps that will help your entry into this field.

See it the same way see ya in civil or criminal court when you are a desprate BEA agent
What you should do is go to a nearby bail bond agent that writes misd. and felon. and ask them if you can do some of their misd. I got a guy that came to me like that of course if you don't do the things their way your tost but not that it is not worth it. I had a guy come do my misd. But he got to yelling at these people on the phone and telling them he was going to put them in jail. I can't stand aarogant wannabe cops and will not tolerate someone talking to my clients like cause 70% I can get it to court because I speak to the with respect> I can not stand people talking down to your clients i want to slap them this not dogggs office this is my office.

I got 4 forfeiture notices last Sept. Two I cleared up in the first week by getting my bonds reinstated. One, nobody returned my phone calls, so last week I charged the credit card collateral and paid the bond from it. It didn't come out of my pocket, and the dad knew and agreed what I would do when the bond was written. The last, I cleared this last weekend when the SIQ came in and I rebonded him.

No matter how much I may need the money, I don't write "desparate" bonds, and I don't hire "desparate" BEA's. We all have to make money to survive, but at the same time, we have to be realistic in what we write and who we hire. Getting desparate eventually costs us more that we can afford to pay. That is why bail agents and BEA's have unrealistic expectations, and thus are often in and out of business in a short time.

At our county jail there are 30 bail bond companys the 10 that have been there since 2001 2 30 and the rest are brand new. the new ones i wont hunt for I wont work for maybe in 5 years when they see what my work is worth. But one of the companys that has been in buisness 30 years has 2 new girls. I normallly will not talk to new bail bondsman at all but these to girls struck me as i had to one a friend of my wife came to me and my wife wanting my help she got lucky and she now works for my PI Firm. The other is the first girls best friend she came to me and came straight out with it i want to learn more about the job. I want to learn how to do a appeal bond. So I took her to my lawers office asked him if he had any appeals for me of course he did he always does. So I showed her how to write a appeal bond. Her next Question Can i go with you bounty hunting I said bring me a certified cop of your bail soliciting license and your bail enforcement liscense I made a copy and it in a file that goes in the lock box of the trunk. I then took her to a easy one. A girll I had looked for for 4 months found her at a waffle house. we casually walked in we looked like we just got off church sat down orderred our food and waited for the crowd to leave we the put our badges out and i let her do all the work i was going to assist if need be. But we walked out calm. New people to the industry you have to train them to work how you are comfortable working. I don't like wworking around those who want to argue with the defendant after the have the handcuffs on it is over. then. I take them to get something to eat or drink or if they just want to talk a min. Because this skip will be sending you bonds in jail. and you want them to be happy with you before they go to jail.

This may not work for everyone else, but I did find a promissing lead for getting actually hired with a bonding company. I re-searched Bail Bonding Companies within my area, and called, through conversations managed to get information on the right person to talk about finding a mentor. Instead of me re-turning the phone call, I drove down to meet the bondsman in person, this allowed both of us to get a feel for one another close-up.

I offered him my services at no cost to him, in re-turn for allowing me the experience to learn the trade with his company, and it may have paid off... He told me,"after I get my certification from my pre-licensing class to come back, and that he was hiring runners".

With this, I have to check-out the company to make sure that it is legitimate; having, proper credentials to operate. I find its very important to read the laws of your state prior to getting hired, so that you also know, your not being taking on a joy ride yourself.

Special Notes: When looking for Bail Bond Companies, I look at the big picture as well..such as, area, the place of business itself, on the inside as well as the outside; this tells me a little about ones personality too. If your not to clean, how are your files and paper work?

There are so many threads on new entries into our businesses... be it BEA or BB... PI, process server... all the many aspects...

Just get on FRN and read, read, read...

I will say once again.... "Do not quite your day job"... "Familiarize yourself with ALL the many, many variations of laws pertaining to your field of endeavor"... "Be prepared for many disappointments.. cause there will be more than you can imagine..." Keep a stiff upper lip and do as "Chief Dan George" said.... "endeavor to persevere"... keep digging... you will make it if you want it bad enough...

There is an old saying that relates to most endeavors... "the ones that fail, certainly do not plan to fail... they fail to plan.."

Some of the points that Kitty has raised have been expressed in other related threads. I don't hire people over the phone. It's unprofessional, unmotivated, and a waste of my time. If you are too lazy to come and see me in person, dressed professionally with a resume and business cards in hand, then I don't have time for you.

If a person is truly serious about workig with me or desiring training under me, then they need to respect my profession and treat it as they would any other professional job search and interview.

1) Professional Attire

2) Professional Appearance

3) Complete personnel file - Resume's, letter's of reference, business cards, military records (dd-214's, discharge)

4) Being on time - This is a HUGE personal pet peeve of mine. Being late is disrespectful not "fashionable". If you're late for an appointment with me, then you are disrespecting me, the job, and my profession. Obviously you don't want the position as badly as you told me you did.
