How many times have you heard this... "But I did nothing wrong???"

Case to consider...

Last week I bonded a nice guy on a "violation of protective order". His wife of many years had placed this on him in the "heat of the moment"... several months later... they were on their way to a Thanksgiving dinner in another state... they were stopped for speeding and guess what?......... ddddduuuuuuuuuhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.............. when they ran his name... the protective order came up and the wife was sitting in the passenger seat... well, guess what again........... off to jail he goes... $3500 bond.

His wife calls me... I bond him but tell her that she can have "no contact until this protective order is lifted... in a court of law"... she says she is due in court the following week to "have it removed"... OK... but how is he getting home today????? Well, she is taking him... duuuuuhhhhh again??

I tell her... "look, I can get him out but if your stopped anywhere again... the same thing will happen..." she says no problem... I say ok... no problem here either.... (she did not sign as indemnitor either... got another family member to do that...)

So guess what again............ they sneak out of town... together...... go to the other state and have a nice Thanksgiving dinner... come back to court on this charge and......... you guessed it....... showed up at the 'advisement' together........ guess what again............. duuuuuhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh... off to jail he goes... 'violation of protective order'... $1000 bond.

So............. (I just love repeat customers...)

I write another bond.... but there is no one to pick this guy up from the jail ... so I bonded him and carried him 35 miles to another town... (charged them for the time and gas) where I met his wife... (I know.... I am so bad.. do not tell me how I am breaking the law....I am such a helpful bondsman... anyway...) He gets in the car and off they go........... I fully expect to hear from them again in a couple of days...............

She did go to court and have the original order removed... however.. there was another 'emergency protective order' in place that she apparently did not know about... and it had surfaced and was the reason for the second arrest...

Is this what you would call "Residual Income"?

I dont know how many I have bonded for DWI twice, one guy three times, in the same day. I refuse to take them to their vehicle. But cant refuse to drop them off where they want. They walk to the car and get popped again. One guy got it twice and bonded his girlfriend out who got a DWI on the way to bond him out.

As for inviting them to Christmas.... I had a family, the kids have grown up now dammit, who the older brother taught the younger brother and sister and sisters boyfriend, to cook dope. In a six month stretch, mom and dad spent $23,000 with me, and I was giving them discounts!!! I sent them a Christmas card... 8)

I know we all have repeat customers....

I got a call the other nite about 2am.... I pick up the phone and this female voice says... "Hey Mr. Bill (country people sometimes refer to their elders by Mr. 'first name'... I have no idea why??) this is Tawana (like I know immediately who this is????)...my nephew just got locked up for a DUI and underage possession of alcohol...."

I came within a hair of saying.... "God bless his little soul..." but I realized I couldn't say that....
