Got a call last nite, Momma's little girl was back in jail... boyfriend was gonna bond her today and they were gonna run... (to Georgia... and my first thought was Scott ) I was on 4 bonds for this little girl and did not... I repeat... did not want her runnin' So, I got up at 6am... road my bike 55 miles to two courts... Circuit and General district... got 3 bail pieces signed... road another 50 miles got the last bail piece signed... rode another 65 miles to the jurisdiction she was supposed to be in and for which I had verified the nite before.... got there at 11am... just as the judge was to grant her bail.... presented the bail pieces.... "Oh, sorry Mr. Marx... she was released this morning...." I went ballistic.... I said "how could she be released before she was granted bail... the jailor just looked at me and smiled.... I dug up a magistrate and he was kind enough to look in his system and told me...... "Oh, Bill, he is right... she is not here, she was transported to ****************** Regional jail about 9am..... they aren't doing the bond hearing till tomorrow"... I called the regional jail, told them to 'PLEASE' sit on her for an hour.... and road another 35 miles and sat for 3 hours while the magistrate there talked on the phone to his buddies.... got the papers served, signed and left... got home at 7pm.... and my little Golden Retriever had crapped in the living room............. God I love this job.... the perfect ending to a great day..... I so enjoyed this day that I just had to share it with somebody that would understand.... BTW I missed 2 bonds while I was underground getting the papers signed... (no cell coverage in the basement of the jail) ............ Now, I feel all better.......... goodnite all...... for as Scarlet said: "tomorrow is another day...."

I feel for you.
Some have heard me say this before. THE TYLENOL BOTTLE IS ON ME!!!!!
At least you didn't really blow a gasket, as you would have, if they released her.

Handled it well, Bill. Glad to hear it worked out. Good thing you took the bike instead of, let say.... the Hummer or Expedition (whatever SUV you want to name).

I ain't in your league... I can't afford an SUV... I have an 02' Duramax Chevy that gets about 19mpg @4.85 per gal.... my wife has an 06' minivan that get about 23mpg @3.90 per gal. and I also have an 00' VW bug that gets about 30mpg.... the Harley gets about 41mpg. sssooooooooooo the math says....... if it ain't rainin' ride the bike. When I grow up and become a big time bond guy... I will get me a BTBBR (Big Time Bail Bondsman Ride) but fur now.......................... my gas goes in da bike.... besides, the chief magistrate in my main jurisdiction rides a Harley and he likes mine... and that's one guy you want to stay on the good side of................... Hope were not gettin' off the thread line here........ maybe I shudda posted in the comedy section.... take care Scott........................

Naw, my SUV (Is it really an SUV???) is a 21 MPG Nissan XTerra.
But, anyway, that is what I was saying.... atleast you took the bike and not something that used more gas. I was looking at the bright side, (even when you didn't get to deal with bright people).

Bill Ain't it great to get to write off the toys for business I had a day like yours last Friday. I locked up a guy wanted in multiple counties, and one county would not exonerate the bond, wanted me to pay it! I showed them MD rules 5-209 and so what, pay the bond. I went to the states attorney and got them to sign off after verification that the guy was in custody and had them hand walk it through for a judges signature. Court clerks think that they are lawyers sometimes and she was shocked when I brought her the signed judges exhoneration, she marched off in a huff! It makes you think about these times when a client asks you, "How do you become a bondsman?" I answer you must be stupid first... Scott
