NEW YORK - A fugitive from Georgia was killed in a confrontation with police in East New York, NYPD and Georgia police officials said Wednesday.
Darin John Richardson was shot and killed by police in East New York who confronted the gunman on the street Tuesday night. Richardson was shot twice and was hit in the stomach and leg, officials said. He later died at Brookdale University Medical Center.
Narcotics officers said they noticed Richardson was carrying a gun and police said they opened fire when he pulled out the weapon. Richardson was wanted in Cobb County Georgia for allegedly shooting a police officer there in August of 2005. That officer survived the shooting and Richardson made his way to New York.
