Working my first case and have to do the skip trace myself, what is the best skip trace website to use?

To sign up with any site that is worth having, you will have to provide some info, requiring a fax machine or snail mail. And, most all the sites, even the better ones, that you will be able to get into without some special clearance, draw from the same data bases. You will hear arguments about one or the other, but they are all the same, basically. Some do better on certain things, due to the way they are set up. Thats the only reason for having multiple sources.

IRB and FindMySkip are the two I use most. Skipsmasher used to be good. However I dont care for the guy that runs the joints attitude and he got rid of a couple of features that set him apart. So, I cancelled my account.

Good luck and remember, these things are invaluable in some ways, to get you on the right track. But they are drawn on public info that has to be compiled and all are at least a couple months old. Seldom are you going to just punch in a name and it take you to the skip. Your gonna have to use other things, mostly knowlege and skill, to use the info to find your skip.

Hit the street, interview people, neighbors, enemies, places he frequented, liquor stores etc. This business requires feet on the street. Databases are ok, but not the get rich quick scheme thaqt people think that they are. What is important about data bases is to learn what type of information and where they source it. If your skip is young, he probably won't hit on a data base anyway. With no significant history, there is no track record to seek out associates and relatives.

You are not in a unique position. You want into this industry and have successfully sold yourself, now it is time to produce the results, which apparently, you are not prepared to do. This case is your test, and gateway if you will, to determine if you have the tenacity to close this case and avail yourself of the opportunity to get more work.

Before you get upset, please follow this advice...find a mentor that is experienced, and bring your case to the table so you are not coming into the relationship empty handed. Close the case together, and learn. Do not be surprised to learn that the case you have received has been worked before, unsuccessfully. Bondsmen will often test the tenacity of a new guy by giving him a case the experienced guys could not close. I have also seen where the gave a case out that was already closed, just to see if the BEA was smart enough to check the warrant status everyday.

I have found Skip Max, it's pretty good. Most searches are $1 with good results, you can search by name and state or even ssn. They give you $10 in free credit to try it out. Give it a try .

Any help is appreciated. Working this first case of mine and it is hard to find this guy I am looking for. Don't seem to be getting any cooperation from the agent in charge from Memphis. The guy is Luis Mendez-Rivera and he is on the www.wanted-fugitives.com website. Tried some free searches and talk to the gentleman who run Tennessee FTA and said not to waste my time since he probably has 6 names or so.

I see his LKA was in Allentown, PA. Ask yourself this, " What was he doing in TN in the first place? " Was he here visiting some friends or maybe some family members? If he was just passing threw and just got caught with the drugs, then he was possibly heading towards home, which is in the PA area.

See if you can get a copy of police arrest report, this wiill tell you where the arrest location was.

Example: If it shows he was on I-40 east bound headind towards I-75 north bound, then he's heading back to PA, Possible.

The arrest report is sometimes a good clue. Our police dept. always has the arrest location or the two cross streets on it where the crime took place. Heck, it evens has there employment on it.

The little things are what make the arrest.
