Here is a copy of an email I sent out to the agency list for Indiana. Some of you may have not gotten it as the emails are no longer valid.
If you are interested please email me at :

-----------------
Greetings,
Most of you receiving this letter are members of the Fugitive Recovery Network and so I will get right to the point.
Mr. Dorfman is attempting to spearhead a movement to start a true 'National Association of Bail Enforcement Agents'.
I believe such an endeavor will be difficult but with some hard work, dedication, and time, we may all one day look back upon the beginnings of this Association as a day to remember... and with pride knowing we were, and are, a part of it.
Though in the future money in the form of dues or donations may be asked for... that is in the future and up to the Council which will be comprised of a Representative of each region... voted for by the future members.
We are NOT asking for money at this time... what is needed now is your Time and Unity.
In bullet points, and in no particular order, are some of the details:
Code of Ethics and Conduct
Mission Statement
Unification of professional Bail Enforcement Agents to give us a louder 'voice' and to provide a verifiable database of said agents.
More credibility with Law Enforcement, Civilian, and Political Agencies.
Country divided into manageable regions and groups.
Will NOT be about ownership nor will this be like other 'for profit' groups.
You will be able to VOTE for your representatives who will in turn sit on a council (this structure is still in the planning phase).
Modeled after organizations such as the NRA, National Registry of EMT's, Etc. and as such perhaps garner such benefits as being a strong lobbying group for our profession as well as possible legal assistance and nationally/federally recognized training.
Yes there are many so called 'organizations' out there. In my personal opinion these organizations are 'hobby clubs' that do nothing but take your money for their 'training' and have not benefited the profession as a whole.
This is primarily due to the constant competition between these 'hobby clubs' for your money. Though in the end what you are paying for is little more than a pretty book or two and a nice laminated or plastic ID card... which may look pretty in your wallet but has no other benefit.
Anyone of us could sell manuals and pretty ID cards for several hundred dollars however I do not think these practices unify us nor has it given us any sort of credibility amongst the law enforcement or civilian agencies which we work with. In fact due to the current and unacceptable fractured nature of this profession we are losing credibility and are in danger of being 'over regulated' to the point of extinction.
We need an organization that is more interested in promoting the well-being of the profession and helping it's members rather than just peddling their wares.
At this time I am attempting to gather a listing of Indiana based Recovery Agents to submit to Mr. Dorfman for the Indiana listing of interested professionals. If you are a bondsman who does your own recoveries then you may also add your name to this list (and future membership).
Should this get going then those who have elected to participate will be able to vote for their Indiana representative from the list of members who wish to be considered for the position from said list.
Though this Association will be for Recovery Agents ONLY (or bondsmen who do their own recoveries as in some states do not have licensing for Recovery Agents but do for Bondsmen)... we do, will, and would, appreciate the assistance by others who would benefit by the creation of such an organization.
If you would like to be added to the list please advise.
I will only add those individuals who email me back saying they are interested in being on the list. If you would also like to donate time (ie; reviewing mission statements, willing to write letters to politicians, coming up with ideas for by laws, participate in the organizing of this new Association... etc.) please advise in your reply email.
If you could put at least the following in your reply:
Name:
Licenses:
If also a Bailbondsman do you do your own recoveries:
Ideas:
Do you want to participate:
NOTE: Now some of you have already voiced your desire to participate... this is a blanket email so you probably have received this letter as well. If so, do not worry, you are already on the list. Please reply back though so I can be sure. Also you may forward this email to interested parties as not everyone on the network listed their email address.
