Hello everyone, had a quick question. I have a skip im working on finding and we believe he may be in Maryland. My question is, Do I need a MD Bail license to recover him or just someone who is licensed in maryland to be there with me at the time of arrest.
Also I do not have a MD firearms permit, with the BEA license will I be able to Carry in MD?

MD does not have a licensing requirement for fugitive recovery. As for whether your VA carry permit is valid in MD you should check with the MD Attorney Generals Office to ask if there is a reciprosity agreement with VA.

The answer is NO, MD does not play well with anybody. Secondly, there are individual city restrictions on wearing vests, carrying Asp Batons and Tasers or similar devices. Local knowledge applies as always. Where do you believe your skip is at and why? If you want to take this to PM, I will understand, but a proper response might elicit some assistance.

I do not have a baton or taser, I do know that a VA permit in itself is not valid in MD.
We have good reason to believe that he is in the ft washington area of MD (PG county)
the individuals sister is receiving a DSS check at a certian address. We did some digging around today locally and found out from a few sources (pawn shop records, etc) that he is in MD

If I were you... I would contact Mr. Scott MacLean and do exactly what he recommends... that will very likely, save you time and money and may keep you out of jail. MD is a very tricky state to operate in.... ask Scott.

Send him a PM....

As stated Maryland does not require a bail enforcement license, however some counties require that recovery agents be registered by the bondsman they work for. Secondly if you do not have a Maryland Handgun Permit, please do not carry in the state you will be arrested. Lastly Fort Washington in not a bad area, however there are some rough patches there. Let the Prince Georges County Police know that you are in the area as it may save you some problems in the long run.

Now that is the best advice anyone could give you.... I have always contacted LE, in whatever state or whatever jurisdiction I happen to be in.... "snatch, grab and run" may be what some do but if you plan on staying in this business and out of jail yourself.... let LE know who you are and what you are about.

Thanks Gene for always, good advice.

We were doing work in culpeper the other day, and the police there were more than willing to help us out in any way. We would always let them know what was going on, and as I was taught in class, it is VA law to let them know before an arrest is made anyway, unless exigent circumstances arise. such as he is in walmart or walking down the street
