it's not as uncommon as many of you think--alot of situations stop just short of a shooting--as a detective i came close a few times-once a rookie did shoot at me(lucky he was a bad shot)--in the heat of battle your mind gets tunnel vision and you do not see the color of the day all you see is that gun--not knowing the tactical situation its hard to know how to react--i have seen many veteren cops act improperly and i have seen rookies do it all right the first time
