Jerry, Mike Brock Arrested Again
Charges Brought In State Court
posted December 15, 2005
Former bondsmen Jerry and Mike Brock were arrested late Thursday morning on new state charges.
They were indicted on bribery conspiracy charges by a Hamilton County Grand Jury.
Sources said nightclub owner Darrin Webb and former General Sessions Court clerk Scott Simcox were also charged.
The charges are apparently similar to the case brought against the four defendants in Federal Court.
An attorney in the case said similar prosecutions can be brought in federal and state court without violating double jeopardy.
The Brocks and Webb were convicted in Federal Court, while Simcox pleaded guilty.
Simcox cooperated with the FBI in the case in which he accepted bribes from the Brocks and from Webb to do away with bond forfeitures and tickets.
Bond for the Brocks was set at $10,000 each.
The Brocks have been sentenced in Federal Court, but they had remained free pending appeal of their convictions.
