an immigration bond is a fools bond here in Arkansas. INFACT they they cannot be written. Used to be EASY MONEY. Until the Courts got tired of being screwed out of their money.
If you are a Foreign National . . .enjoy the 3 hots and a cot . . . cable and whatever.

I've talked to a few people with experience in this trade...for some reason or another, they're staying clear from the immigration bond.

Getting paid for referring without any liability...that ain't no fool'n.

Send me everyone you get... I write them all the time... full collateral plus my fee... if they come back, they get their collateral money back... if they FTA I get to pay off my Visa card early...

Premium goes in my pocket, collateral goes into a non-interest bearing fiduciary (big word like mayonnaise) account... held until the bond is adjudicated... all legal and proper.

This is what I say to everyone... and I mean everyone that calls me on a bond.... remember this, it lays out exactly what you do and how.

"I am in business to get people out of jail, each case is different and the particulars will vary but if we can work it out, you will get out."

I'll tell ya something else... when I write a fully collateralized bond... I don't get any information from anyone except the mailing address, SS and date of birth on the defendant, so I can return his collateral upon adjudication and finalization of the bond..... I don't even need an indemnitor. I have been doing it this way for over 10 years and have never been stung.

Only one other thing... do not accept credit cards on these type of bonds... cash only... cards have hidden problems no matter how solid they may appear.

The only bonds I won't write are Federal bonds and only because they are way to iffffffyyyyy and you never know what the Fed will actually do......... cause they make up their rules each day.... that is an absolute fact.

My experience with clients needing immigration bonds has been,
1. They usually don't have the full collateral, cash, credit or real property.
2. The very few that do have the full collateral, usually have the full cash amount and just post a cash bond instead and save the 15% premium.
3. Also, some of these immigration cases take years to complete, especially in CA.

3 very good points, my only comment is that in my AO, the majority of these bonds are written on agricultural immigrants that do not trust the system and in many cases, I have bonded legals that have connections with the illegals and as such influence them to pay a 'trusted' bondsman to do the bond rather than giving the money to the magistrate. The ones I have bonded usually find that what I tell them can be trusted and in such a close nit community as they... it goes a long way in influencing their decision to deal with someone. Frankly, I do explain that they have the option of dealing directly with the system... I am a middle man and as such I may be somewhat more lenient as far as the return of collateral... with me, they will get it all back if they make all appearances... with the courts... the fines and other costs will be subtracted first... sometimes they opt for me and worry about the fines later... that is their choice.

I do not write them all, but with close scrutiny, they can be done and so far my cases have been ok... and I reiterate... full collateral and even though I sometimes do not get indemnitors... I do have, lets just say, certain connections with close ties...

There are large farmers in this area that employ many immigrants and those cases are the safer ones. Many of them return each year or in some cases actually live in housing provided by the employer... I would think CA may be the same although I would think maybe not as safe a bet as rural Virginia.

Now I am going to ask to the Original Poster to clarify "Immigration Bond"

after reading the posts made by some of you . . . I too have written bonds for "Migrant Workers"
and I have never had a problem (all misdemeanor charges of course) .

What I was referring to was ICE bonds. It cannot be done here in AR.

Yes Dave, I worked on his cases for him directly and then for 2 of his many insurance companies doing run outs.

Luvonda, I am not referring to bonds on illegal aliens, I was referring to ICE bonds and will not touch them. I would rather be hired to locate them, better money, no risk!

When I write a bond on an illegal, I require a passport, green card and their shoe box. They all have one, it will include their birth certificate, baptismal and confirmation certificates etc. that are returned upon completion of all court dates. It is one hell of a motivator and because of the way that they are written, lets me know the proper names for each side of the family and where they are from.

What is happening in my AO is, the local sheriffs are reporting everyone suspected of being an illegal, to ICE as soon as they are checked in, before they are even completely booked. ICE usually places a "hold" on the person within a couple of hours. This is in spite of the many sanctuary cities we have in CA.

ICE then pressures the suspected illegals to voluntarily "self remove" or deport themself rather than fight the deportation. They are told if they fight and lose, they can never come back, legally that is.

If they still wish to fight the deportation, a bail is set for them. It use to be $10 to $20K. I have noticed that it seems to have been lowered on average to about $5 - $10K.

However, most illegals decide to voluntarily leave and just sneak back in in a couple of weeks.

Now this is all depends on what happens in their local case. If it is a misdemeanor, our local DA usually will not prosecute and let ICE have them. If it is felony, then after they are tried, convicted and sentenced, they are very often turned over to ICE and barred from retuning.

If it is a serious felony, they do their time and then are deported.

Most of the illegals in my area do domestic work, landscaping, cooks and some construction. Very few of the employers post bail on their behalf as they can usually find new help very quickly.

Thank you Scott. I did not know this . . . I have "stored" it for future reference :-)
