SUGAR & SPICE

Do you all remember the saying sugar and spice and everything nice thats what little girls are made of. My new up-dated saying is sugar and spice and a "BOX CUTTER KNIFE" Thats right i have spent the last 2 hours at the Redi-MED and 72 stitches later i am sitting here pecking on the keyboard. Entry team went in the front door and our little lady came out the back and guess which old man was at the back with a short foot chase defendant stopped and raised her arms and said she gave-up as i moved in to restrain her she cut me with a box cutter wrapped in black tape i never saw it as it was dark out she bolted to run and i tripped her by this time my girlfriend had made it out the back of the house and she made the arrest she then called the S.O. and had them meet us at the Redi-Med to transport. Long story short we got $800 for this small bond and spent $900 at the Redi-Med Emergency Room. SOMETIMES WE WIN , SOME TIMES WE LOSE. I lost tonight. Welcome to my Hood

Damn Dave... That sucks. I'm sure she was charged with felony assault? Maybe small consolation but you may be able to sue as well... if she is charged and found guilty of the assault then the judge will definately order reimbursement of medical expenses (if she's got anything that is).

Reminds me of a case back on the PD... our LT at the time got into a wrestling match with a guy and tried to headlock him (LOL go figure... they train us not to do that) well, the guy bit off the tip of the LT's pinky finger right through his kevlar gloves.

She was charged with felony assault, i have to go down in the morning so they can take my statement. The bondsman on this case came to the Redi-Med to see that i was ok as we were talking this same lady called him on his cell phone to see if he would bond her out of coarse at this time she is not bailable she will have to see the judge tomorrow. He told her he would be sure and call the other bondsman in town and let them know what went down and he hope she couldn't find anyone to post bail, but there has been to many new bondsman come into the area someone will post her bond. She has nothing to sue for she is a Crack- Monster she flops from house to house you know the type.

Kevlar may be good for needle pricks and cuts but it not worth a darn from teeth. Sorry it took so long to reply i have to peck with one hand and the Demerol Shot is taking effect so i will end for tonight.

I'm sorry to hear about your injury, you should insist on no plea bargain for this woman, it sickens me how some people have no regard for others, you were just doing your job and I'm sure you had every intention of treating her with dignity through out the arrest.

A few months ago I was kicked in the groin by the girlfriend of a skip and I made it clear to the DA no plea baragain, he advised that it's his choice and I replied that I have choices too, such as picketing the polls at election time, he decided that a plea agreement was not appropriate for the defendant so we get along fine now.

I'm very glad to find that you will be recovering from that vicious attack.

All of us should bear in mind that the work can be very dangerous, and I'm equally glad that you thought to share your experience to keep us all level.

Dave hope your healing--what happened to you is something we all face --we tend to sometimes let our guard down or let our attention drift than it gets you--glad it was not to bad heal and feel well --all of us need to learn from this I hope this is the worst injury i hear about on this forum

I have a 8in gash on my left arm on top right where your elbow bends so i have to keep my arm straight at all times and not bend it, it makes things a bit odd but at least its not my coffee cup arm so i am in good shape. I let my guard down somewhat as this lady was with child and i didn't put her face down in the dirt as i would anybody else at night. I have been in this business a long time and i broke one of my rules and i payed for it. I guess I'm getting soft in my old age.

My people all wear gloves, I myself only wear what i call half gloves there are no fingers in them as i am mostly back-up now and have passed the main entry team on to my younger Agents to whom i have all the confidence in the world and one of these members is my long time girlfriend and believe you me she has no mercy on a person, she puts up with zero BS. Thanks to the modern world of chemistry it is in your best interest to wear gloves do to needle pricks, i know i do not need to go into detail on that comment.

I generally wore a spectra lined pair of leather gloves... lasted me since 1995 (when I first joined the force) till just this year (about 7 years after I left the force).

I ride my motorcycle in the winter and while I was warming my hand near my exhaust pipe it sort of warped the leather and the lining LOL... now I have to buy a new pair.

I would suggest some type of lined glove.

My old gloves were Hatch but I have seen some new ones by Damascus which look really good and are specifically for tactical type of situations.

Though I would make sure of your glove size before ordering and if you can buy it locally I would do so... I'm kind of picky about my gloves and like them to be just right rather than too tight or loose.
