 Post subject: PLEASE HELP!

I'm an 18 year-old college student whom is intrested in being a BEA. I've read some online stuff about marketing yourself and all that but i want some actual help from active BEAs maybe one in my area of Southern California to help me get a quick start. I'm in great shape, intelligent, and a great worker. I'm waiting for more insite until I start training/licensing. Please anything will help. Thank you

stay in school... and read this website for info, but under no circumstances quit anything you are actively involved in now to attempt entry into this business.... you will starve and not be happy.... finish school first then give this a try after you have a full time job that is supporting you.

Whats your college major? You may want to stick with that career path for awhile.

There is no "quick start" in this business anymore, unless you mean just calling yourself a CA BRFP. This is a very tough time in California for bail and bail recovery people.

Anyway, after January 1, 2010, there wil be NO education requirements or past criminal conviction restrictions in CA to be a "bounty hunter." So, you can start right up working as a bounty hunter, if someone will hire and train you.

Just a little advice, most established bail agents will be very cautious about hiring someone so young. Liabilty is a big concern for us.

Are you serious about PC1299?? I have been trying to find out what's going to happen at year's end but nobody seems to know. I can't find it on the net or any of the forums/websites I frequent.

So far with contacts I have in Sac and the association lobbyist, there is no bill or legislation to extend PC 1299.

If it sunsets 12/31/09, I don't know if it can be extended retroactivity later next year or if a new law has to be enacted.

This article seems to have a very good amount of info related to California Bail Enforcement
but nowhere can I find anything about renewal next year. So you think it will just 'go away?" Man is that going to open up the rodeo.

Not trying to start a big controversial argument, over in Cali. I feel bad for the men & wm who worked hard to get the industry where it is out there and to acquire their credentials but if the state of Cali. doesn't renew the pc 1299, Doggy will have a new place to run other than Colo. & Hawaii

Yes,

He may be able to work in CA. I would love for them try and find someone in LA or Oakland without getting their butts kicked.

Also, I doubt many of the LE agencies would put up with their antics after the fiasco in San Mateo with the football player.

I saw that show and he also slammed the police. This was a couple days after a cop was killed in that area. Doggie was upset because the local pd would not send an officer with them while they were looking for their skip.

All the cops were out searching for the killer and doggie was p.o.ed that that he couldn't get LEO "backup."

Let them come to CA. We'll see how good he is.
