not sure about others here in TN. but I had to actually take a course in order to get my Bea license.Granted it was a short class but the company offers continued training as well.I have taken spray, baton, cuff and cqc courses along with building clearing as well. Also took a seperate first aid course. All of which are not required here in TN.but I felt they were useful.Wish more bea's would take the extended courses, might keep them and others around them a little more safe.I do however agree,TN. and every other state could do with a little more strict guidelines for Bail Enforcement licenses.
Tennessees handgun carry permit is not very hard to get but that seems to depend on who you go through. There is a man that works out of davidson county TN. by the name of Buford Tune that turns that 8 hour firearms course into a 2 day event and will NOT pass you unless you meet a score requirement.there are also others that will get you in and out quickly but still have to fire your required 50 rounds but i think it is less about were you hit your target as how much money they need at the time!! not alot of training in those cases. As in our business, other businesses have their fair share of shady characters.I guess that is why it pays to do your homework and choose a very good trainer in all aspects of this business and any other business we wish to pursue.

Please excuse any spelling or gramatical mistakes. I am on "heavy meds" an typing with one hand for the next few months.

I will not list all the training that I have taken and use in this field, I will only say that I am currently spending @ $1500 per year to stay current. That is only taking the courses thast i pay for, into account. About half of the training is paid for by the state, county, or other government department. Needless to say, it can be expensive to take this training and certification courses ...... however, it could cost even more to not have them and end up in front of "that judge".

Yes they can get very expensive and you are right it could end up costing more once in front of a judge.I would rather have that training and also the trainers behind me if that day ever came.I posted my training only as a example,There are more people on here and off that probably have more training than I.I respect that and I learn from those people as well.
Wow $1500 sno?! I am glad i made some friends along this journey of mine!! I have been getting discounts 8) If i wasnt than it would very well be high dollar, high enough as it is.
Get better soon man,let that shoulder heal up so you dont tear it up again.

I NEVER said that I wanted to become a bounty hunter or “play with guns” I was simply asking if anybody knew what the laws and guidelines were.. I just find it interesting that to become a BH all you have to do is send away for a $200 license and BAM,,,,,,, you have the authority to lick in doors and jam you’re gun into peoples faces… I just wanted to know if this was actually the fact… That’s all.

First Off, the State of Ohio does not allow BOUNTY HUNTERS...........PERIOD.. If you use that term here, you will be arrested. You have to be licensed as a Surety Bail Bond Agent or a PI to do any kind of arrest for bail jumpers. A bail bondsmen in the Cleveland, Ohio area already lost his license for using a non-license person to do his pick-ups. Good for him....

The Dept. of Insurance is not putting up with this crap anyone, Thank God!

In Florida you have to be very very careful when it comes to firearms, showing your gun can land you in jail for Aggravated Assault with a Firearm which caries a minimum mandatory 3 year sentence here. In Florida there is no special permit for Bondsman when it comes to firearms, the only way to carry is with a regular civilian Concealed Carry permit which any legal non-felon can possess but there are many rules you must follow with it. The only time you can expose your firearm is if you are in fear for your life but not to facilitate an arrest, But on the upside Taser's are allowed to be used and can be carried exposed or concealed (with a CCW Permit) and used without question.

I believe this is, pretty much, law anywhere when talking about lethal weapons. Brandishing without "fearing for your life or safety" is common sense and, from what I have read over several years, is the common place. It definately keeps cowboys from walking the streets with a gun in thier hand (no pun intended; expecially with you soldiers). I have never heard of a law that states "If you see your subject you may draw down on them for any....or no reason" and every states law that I have read includes severe time penalties in association with this act.

On the other hand, Georgia includes MANY "tools", lethal or less than lethal, as a weapon. The law specifically states that:
viewtopic.php?f=13&t=11329&p=53507&hilit=+Taser#p53507
"Firearms are defined in Georgia as; any handgun, rifle, shotgun, stun gun, *taser*, or other weapon which will or can be converted to shoot or expel a projectile by the action of an explosive or electrical charge.

Title 16, Section 16-11-106
(a) For the purposes of this Code section, the term 'firearm' shall include stun guns and tasers. A stun gun or taser is any device that is powered by electrical charging units such as batteries and emits an electrical charge in excess of 20,000 volts or is otherwise capable of incapacitating a person by an electrical charge."

And then it goes on to lay out the penalties for abusing the laws.
