Oddly enough, black is actually the wrong colour.

So many LEO's use black vehicles that they draw attention. Other considerations for vehicles is the normal, everyday expense of one. Also, the vehicles have to blend in everyday neighborhoods....everything from the projects to Millionnaire's Row.

The car tags need to be registered to a po box, and need to be regular tags..not "vanity tags". In other words, our vehicles have to be everyday, inconspicuous, average working person types. Nothing special, outlandish, etc.

The whole object is to be anonymous.

Mine is a Yellow Nissan X-Terra. The yellow does stand out in a parking lot, however, yellow is the most popular color, in this model so it is not rare to see one....plus it was a repo that I conducted, so the price was right.

Lol..so much for the theory on the colour black, huh ? I guess I should have qualified my statement.....Typically, the colours black, blue, green and white are associated with Leo's on certain models of cars such as crown vics, chevy impala's, dodge charger's, etc.

Yea,

My black crown vic sticks out so much, I'm getting a 2008 tan one. Now I never use them for hunting, just everyday regular stuff.

Fore tracking down forgetful clients, I can use the Bosses Mazda 6 or my F250 p/u.

I had a black crown vic for 350.000 plus miles, it disappeared at night. I would get out to walk around for better view etc. and on my way back I could not notive my car until I was right on top of it.

AS PI's silver or gray blends in very well.

Although he is a very busy (productive) man, I would also suggest an attempt to contact Rex Venator.

As part of your research, you might consider reading Rex's book "Modern Bounty Hunter".
Rex tells of some of his exploits and also has "tales from the street" pieces that might be helpful for ideas.

I also find agreement with another poster about bounty hunting in Illinois. It just isn't done there. The setting wouldn't work. The main character being Irish, I immediately thought of Boston. Hear they have a great many folk of Irish stock. Then again, the Irish got around pretty good. Denver, for example, makes a huge deal out of St. Patty's day, including painting the center stripe of Broadway green for the parade.

The job of a writer is really tough, and I personally admire your grit. Research is only part of the task. Those long hours at a keyboard can be really trying. Hope your work turns out great and you produce a top seller. Good luck!
