To suit up or not to suit up.

None of us were there. It's nearly impossible for any of us to anticipate our actions. All of us are different. The facts that none of you were injured, including the defendant, return fire was withheld, and cooler heads prevailed speaks well of you and your team, regardless of how "justified" your shooting would have been.

Just consider the current national debates surrounding the Zimmerman/Martin case. I don't know who is wrong or right...and for my point here is that imagine yourself in Zimmerman's place ? Even if you were to be exonerated on all charges...look at how a case like that would destroy you.

Legal defense bills, Press in your face/life 24/7, family destroyed, victims issues, ptsd, clients suddenly don't know you, civil lawsuits, federal civil charges, etc.

I think far too many people in this industry place way too much emphasis on guns as compliance tools. Just my opinion.

It never hurts to ask your client how they want you "suited". Some may be fine with a tac'd out look, others may rather you throw a windbreaker over your vest. Your presentation will reflect on your client to those who come in contact with you.

There are some disadvantages to "suiting up":

1. Presence becomes known too quickly.

2. Running. Skip sees you coming in swat style gear, they may think they have worse problems they thought and run because they're intimidated.

3. Some LE may think that you are attempting to misrepresent yourself as LE.


Jeans and a T-shirt works for me. I do of course, make sure they are clean.
