Thank you DMARTZ! With a caffeine high and work related aggravations maybe heated discussions sometimes are better to avoid. But thats why I love this job! Hey, we could be punching out time cards and working nine to five with only a paycheck every two weeks! Wait a minute that doesn't sound to bad!

Barkinshark perhaps you make a valid point concerning the way some people prioritize their qualifications but as you said the way you came accross was the factor that resulted in the type of replies you received here, as far as your comment about Dave Martz all I can say is that if you knew him you would not have made those comments, Dave is one of the most level headed pro's you could find, check his post history and you will see what I'm talking about.

barkinshark,

I'm in the hurry up and wait bailmode right now, so I decided to log back on and see what you all were talking about.

I think you'll find that this web site is frequented by real-deal pros to include a couple of published authors who are still active and some who are often on television plying their trades.

All & all, I'd say we've got a good crew here willing to share their thoughts and ideas as their schedules allow.

I better understand the point that you were making regarding how to approach potential clients as a new person. Established persons, at least in my experience, don't always have to meet with new clients as unsolicited cases sometimes show up in the mail with a sticky to call when received.

New people just getting started will probably have to boogie to get work, and professionalism is one of those pieces towards doing so.

Rex

Barkinshark

I have no quarrell with you...I veer away from negativity as it is unproductive and a waste of time..esp mine.

My father tried to teach me many lessons in life..some which I did not fully comprehend until my later years..with age comes wisdom...anyway, he always tried to get me to understand that any 2 fools can argue...it only takes 1 wise person to walk away.

Seems to me too much energy and time has already been wasted on this subject. I admit I did take offense at what appeared to be a "put down" on prior military types. If I misinterpreted your intended point, then I apologize.

If you remember, I was one of the few, if not the only one, who repsonded to one of your earlier requests for information in another part of this forum. I have proven to others on here repeatedly that if I can render aid, I will...without question..without compensation...because I believe in this career and like some of the others on here I have dedicated myself to protecting and professionalizing this industry to the best of my ability.

As for what I look for....I am part of a regional network of dedicated professionals from all walks of life..some prior military..some are not...but we have currently 15 members, male and female each with thier own specialites and skills. See I am also a Licensed private investigator, so my associates and I work together as a TEAM to accomplish our mission..whether it be fugitive recovery, domestic issues, child custodies, CPS..etc.

So I do understand the frustration of unqualified individuals asking for work...I go through it every day at the retail store I also work from.

I do not wish to be your adversary...I prefer instead to be considered a potential asset should you ever need my assistance.

Take care and God Bless.

Ruffin.
