CA is becoming so politically correct, that it isn't even funny anymore.

You all may have heard of some of these:

San Jose has banned plastic shopping bags. If you need one, the store will charge you .10 each.

San Francisco wants to charge stores and businesses for the parking spaces they provide for their customers and employees.

Several cities have banned smoking on public beaches, in your own apartment unit if it is a multiple unit complex, even in your own home if the smoke drifts onto a neighbor's property.

So far this winter, we have had about 10 "spare the air" days in the SF Bay Area. That is when the air is stagant and supposedly burning a fire in you fireplace will create too much air pollution. So, people with astma or other respiratory ailments may have problems breathing. The problem is, there has been no study or research to show that smoke from fireplaces have contributed to or caused any increase in health problems in the Bay Area.

You all know about the very restrictive gun laws in CA so I will not go there.

It is not a manhole cover, its a "person hole cover" in the street.

The schools must teach lesbian, gay, bi and transgender history.

The schools have banned dodge ball, running at recess and making a gun shape with your fingers or saying "bang" at school.

In some CA cities it is illegal to smoke in Public - not just in a building, not just in front of an entrance, but on any public street!

There are putting through a bill to prevent people from smoking in their own vehicles if they have a minor (under 16) in the vehicle? {My parents, grandparents, and other relatives all smoked around me and my siblings! NOTE: My great grandfather died at 113 and my father's father died at 94}

I still can't figure out some laws - like the national seat belt law. How does my wearing or not wearing a seat belt protect you?

I'll be glad when they ban smoking altogether nationwide. It's all poisonous to everyone and everything.

I do not smoke, never have. I just pointed out how, in my opinion, the laws are getting out of hand.

When you can't smoke in your own home because smoke MAY drift into a neighbors yard on a day that the wind is blowing just right and the neighbors window is open and the faint smell is, "overwhelming," that is pretty ridiculous.

The government can not protect everyone from everything that may or may not be harmful. When they try, they infringe on the private acts of individuals.

California is taking the lead in that.

In the govs quest to make everything equal or everyone equal, they do away with "personal responsiblity." So, as Bills post points out, people begin to expect to be given what ever they want whether or not they have earned or deserve it.

I am surprised that Cali has not banned forks . . .

@SpanielPI - Using that logic then they should ban all combustible engines as they produce far worse poisons.

I understand and accept some restrictions and regulations but it seems that our gov't is "getting out of hand."

Leave it up to the individuals and the businesses to prohibit smoking.

Additionally, if you don't wear a seat belt or a helmet you are only jeopardizing your own life not anyone else's.
