I was out looking for a fugitive on a college campus and while inside one of the building I was citied for parking in a permit only lot. I'm wondering if there is any law or anything out there that I guess protects us FR Agents from things like that or anything. If not it's all good, just thought I'd ask.

You are afforded no special privileges by being a BEA. You must follow the law just like anyone else. I always check in with the campus police never had any trouble, In fact up here they are more than willing to help us out.

Same here. I will add that if you don't watch it, you may even get called down just for being in this industry. So following the letter of the law is always the best policy.

I was going to say the same thing..if you do a leo check in, esp. on campuses, you can avoid things like that.

Apprehending a fugitive on a college campus is tricky business anyway. Much like an Indian reservation. They are thier own entities/communities.

1 of our colleges here has a working relationship with us. The chief of police there WILL NOT allow any BEA to come onto campus and arbitrarily yank a body off of his campus.

All we have to do is go see him, show him our paperwork. He then verifies if indeed the fugitive is an actively enrolled student. If not, he gives whatever forwarding information he can. If the fugitive is enrolled there, we wait at the pd while 2 campus officer's go retrieve the fugitive, bring him/her to the campus pd, then turn custody over to us. I've done this many times without issue or problem.

I've earned the respect of the campus cops and they have earned mine and we work well together.

Just to be sure you also can't do any of the following:

1) High speed chases

2) Blow through stop signs or lights

3) Shoot at people in cars driving away from you

4) Shoot at people running away from you

5) Shoot at anyone that is not presently an immediate deadly threat to you or someone else

There's more but, I'm sure you already know them all.

Just a few questions: Who are you ? Are you legally licensed by your state/city/county ? What are your training certifications ?

Where are you ?, etc. Your profile is blank.
