I notice also that they are coming to Colorado to offer a class. Wonder who they are affiliated with here since they aren't on the list of registered providers. You can view the list at http://www.asisvcs.com/publications/pdf/120633.pdf.

If anyone, I suspect it's the American Institute of Bail and Bail Enforcement since their site reads that they offer nationwide training. This quotes are from their website: http://www.bailtraining.com/index.cfm

"We are the only Offical State Certified Bounty Hunter, Bail Enforcement, and Bailbonds Agent training school in the USA industry."

Seems like there are a lot of "only's" out there. :P

"Providing Professional Classroom and Home Study Courses for Bounty Hunter training, Bail Enforcement training, and Bail Bond Agents Nationwide."

Hmmm... Interesting that the sample certificate they show on their site says Colorado, not USA. Also, if they are the "only" one, why does the state list others? I'm sure they teach what is required and understand they also have tactical training. I have read where people swear by the school. But then again, people swear by USRB as well, don't they?

We offer the Colorado Bail Enforcement course and you can see that we are on the list. We give out a certificate, only because people like something pretty to hang on the wall. What Colorado requires to be given is a Certificate of Completion on the form as provided by the state. It has the person's name, SSN, and the boxes checked showing that the person has completed the required number of study hours, with the name of the course provider and signed by the instructor. It ain't pretty, but it's legal.

We also make sure to explain that the certificate is good only when going after Colorado skips. That does not mean that they can't chase someone to another state as long as that state will allow them to. It means they can't "work" out of another state.

KATHY there people get into trouble all over the USA -one of there agents got popped in mass and charged with multiple felonies- many people on this forum has first hand info on many more usrb agents arrested including 2 in nyc

as far as nationwide training goes here in nh the only state accepted school is given by me and LAW no others qualify--- their training might be top notch i do not know i have taken their class but their info is flawed - i have personally spoke to approx 11 people that took their classes and had been told they can work anywhere in the us with usrb credentials--one of these people came within a hairs breath of a kidnap charge in nyc

Cathy beware if the usrb starts training in your area--the three day wonders that they turn out can and will creat massive problems in your area of operation with both the press and law enforcement

we have been lucky not to have any of their problem children around our area but i just found out they are giving a class in Rhode Island--to close for comfort---let the proper autherities know about them

And here in Arkansas they do not accept any class from anyone. Our business or industry is illegal unless you are the surety, an Arkansas Licensed P.I., Arkansas Licensed Bail Bondsman or a Certified Law Enforcement Officer. We are not even allowed to use the terms Bounty Hunter, Bail Enforcement Agent, Fugitive Recovery Agent etc., and it is even mentioned in the law specifically that we can't use these terms. If we are caught doing so it is a Class D Felony. So as in other areas I know for a fact that their classes are totally useless here in my state.

Mel
fees - 2005/09/15 03:45
Hello,
I have a question in regards to the fees for the N.Y. class. I understand you posted on a previous topic that the N.Y. class was 25 hours and included the handcuff/baton/pepperspray. Will everything be included in the $395 price and will everything be covered in the 25 hours or will there be additional hours on top of the 25 hours for certification? What percentage of BEA agents carry firearms and what kind of permit(restrictions) do I apply for to carry a firearm? Are the credentials you speak of refer to being licensed? If not, which Dept. do I apply for a license? Any information will greatly be appreciated.
Thank you.

Yeah, notice that part was left out. Along with the fact that even if you get licensed you will have a hard time getting work.

We already have enough cowboys here without them adding to it. We ran an ad a couple of months ago to help build our team. We got about 200 phone calls, none from people already certified. About 50 actually showed up for a meeting, and out of those, only 5 have followed through, completing the course, doing the fingerprint background check, and those are now being field trained. Everyone was given the true facts about this type of work, long hours, sporadic pay, extensive training without pay, etc. The ones that have stuck it out are doing very well and learning the right way to do it. We teach them some tricks of the trade, and they have shown us some tactics as well. Right now they are not known as we are, so work out great for set-ups. The main thing is that when they are ready to hit the streets, they will have been taught properly, not given some out of proportion idea of who they are and what they can do.

How in Hades will Mel be licensed in NY without posting a $500,00.00 insurance binder??? By misleading Mel I would think such a thing comes under 'unfair business practices' and 'false advertising' not even to mention being liable for any violations of the law Mel might encounter.

I'm sending the info to the applicable AG's office and Department of Insurance for review and analysis.

This type of thing has gone on long enough.

To those who won't appreciate me ratting on them, I say... its called policing our own; those who know me will realize what I would actually like to say. The rest of you are invited to join me and send your complaints to the same places. Time to stand an be counted instead of merely voicing a dissenting opinion on a forum.
