I recently got my virginia license through the NABEA under Mel Barth. I was just wondering if anyone's a member of the NABEA, and whether or not it's a valuable resource. It costs $250 to join... It's not so much about the money, but I don't want to throw my money away on something I don't need.

Anytime you have membership n a national association, it has value, perceived or not.

My reasons for joining the NABEA are:
it was closest to me

I would rather have that certificate behind me as oppossed to stating that I am self taught when standing before a judge

24 hour Credential verification, when jacked by LEO, even after checking in

the ability to network with others who have experienced the same type of training for a predictable response.

The ability to return to classes for free for life to learn the latest greatest whatever

Good luck,

Scott

Remember training is information-information is power and reason both are great traits in our game-Mels class is full of accurate info-if you take advantage of the training your reactions and situational knowledge will be greatly enhanced-you will work smarter and with less liability--in short a membership in his organization is more than worth its costs

I've been a member of the NABEA for about 3 years, I've taken advantage of free attendance at classes and networking between members, making contacts is an extremely important part of this business, if someone from NABEA such as Mel or Scott recommended you for the secure area you would get my vote.
