I'm curious if anyone who is not native to the US is working as a recovery agent?

I remember a guy from England who did it back in the 80's but I heard he got in trouble for something.

I know requirements for agents vary from state to state so was wondering if anyone knows of anyone doing this?

Thanks
Steve

The bigger issue is whether or not there is enough work for a "non-citizen" to be able to get a visa to come to the US to work in bail enforcement.

Other issues will be lack of experience, familiarity of the laws and skill set.

I agree with Tony, as one of the requirements for an employment visa is there must be a demonstrable skill set that you possess, that is in short supply here. I do recall the gentleman from England that worked recovery here, but I do not know the details. He may have posted on here, but definitely on Face Book. If I recall, he was a dual citizen because his father was US Military and was stationed in the UK when he met the gentleman's mother. That would be a reason he did not require a visa to come here.

You may apply for a student visa and take Rex Venator's class, Bail Speak, based in California. The only issue is that commercial surety is battling pretrial release everywhere and this has resulted in fewer bails an d even less skips.

Best of luck,

Scott

Here in Florida one must be a US Citizen and Resident of Florida to be licensed as a Bail Bondsman/Surety Agent.

Every State is different. You would need to check with that particular State's Laws you are looking to work in.

Thanks for the replies.

I would guess that the professional fugitive recovery industry in the U.S. is the same as the close protection industry in UK that is now full of badly trained people with no experience who do a course and then call themselves agents or officers.

Small steps and networking and we'll go from there.
