David, I think we all respect and admire the ways you have handled the challenges of the last couple years or so.
Grace, poise, dignity, courage, and strength all come to mind when I see your posts and think about how you've reacted to what's been thrown at you.
Best wishes for a full and speedy recovery. (...and if you ever get out this way, we'll do some fishing. I have a couple hidey-holes on the river where the bigguns like to hang out.)

I just got approved for Masterfiles, so I can do basic credit reports very cheaply. So if I can help in anyway, let me know.

Glad to hear your doing better. I know it's rough. Maybe she's right, less stress makes a difference. Take Mr Platt up on that offer and I know Bill has a nice get away. And ditto to Tonys' post if you need anything.

absolutely agree with Mr. Platts post. And I am indebted to you as well so if there is any assistance that these other ladies and gents cannot assist you with (dont see that happening!!) I would not hesitate to do what I can for you. Also,I agree on the retirement idea but dont drop out completely because you have an abundance of knowledge that I would like to have one day and I like to learn it from a pro.

Dave, retirement is a mixed bag... mine consists of rising around 7am... slowly... and I mean slowly walking to the kitchen where my coffee has already brewed... mixing a very large cup with a generous portion of "Fat Free Hazelnut"... walking into my den/office and checking to see if there is any money left in my checking accounts... checking my emails and FRN to see if anyone has posted anything that I can post something stupid toooo....
And then... if I have a bond call or if my lovely daughter decides to go somewhere and let me pull my phones back... I will be on call... business is very slow however and I don't get out much... so.... having said that.... I stay on the computer, reading and looking at my different interests...
Gail keeps me involved and I do all the cooking... I also have a boat that sometimes gets to the lake... and a motorcycle which if the weather is warm and dry... I do take a ride to Richmond or maybe one of my buddies will ride also... I also go to the range and shoot often... or just clean my guns and work around the house...
... if I don't feel like it........... I don't do anything....... that is the joy of being retired.... and then sometimes my friends will call or come over... and we will watch a game or talk or tell each other lies... family visits sometimes...
So my day is filled with non essential duties unless I choose to do something important... like go to the store or the PO... or a bond call... sometimes I actually get a "show cause" and even those are a joy cause I get to go to court and see some of the folks I know there... I am on a first name basis with a lot of the folks involved... even the Commonwealth Attorney treats me decent and emails me with info on my defendants when he wants to pull my chain a bit....
I also have a little local hang out... restaurant... "Mildred's Meals" that I frequent occasionally to pick up local chatter and see some of my friends and have a nice lunch or coffee.... always a pleasure to see old friends at "Mildred's"
Also, occasionally, Scott M. will call me and offer advise or even ask what I think of something (which is extremely good for my self esteem... for someone as articulate and worldly as Scott to actually call me for my thoughts...!)
I know you are facing difficulties that many of us cannot fathom... but I get the impression that you are the type that can handle the pressure... we 'alfa' males tend to be like that... even when we get to be like an "egg mcMuffin" such as myself... even old and fat I still have the metal in me... even though it may be a bit duller now.... I tend to think you are of the same make...
Dave, retirement is great... life is always what you make it, even when it hands us a lot of sht... we can still smile and go forward...
I always remember the story of the little bird:
A little bird was flying south for the winter. It got so cold it froze up and fell to the ground in a large field. While it was lying there, a cow came by and dropped some dung on it. As it lay there in the pile of cow dung, it began to realize how warm it was. The dung was actually thawing him out! He lay there all warm and happy, and soon began to sing for joy.
A passing cat heard the little bird singing, and came to investigate. Following the sound, the cat discovered the bird under the pile of cow dung, and promptly dug him out-and then ate him.
The morals of the story are:
1. Not everyone who drops sht on you is your enemy. 2. Not everyone who gets you out of sht is your friend. 3. When you're in deep sht, keep your mouth shut!
I always thought another moral was... "Even when covered in sht... you can still be warm and happy..."
Hang in there brother, you have friends that you may never meet but we are still thinking of you and we are on your side and if needed, we will come.
