Well, I have traveled and camped for many years... but until I got into the travel campers it was mostly in Virginia and NC... after I purchased the 5th. wheel Montana, I started making longer and longer trips and then when I retired in '07... we took off in early May and went on a 10,000+ mile cross country that took us about 3 months... then a New England that took 4 weeks and a bunch more to Florida and Tennessee...

We sold the camper last December however and let me just say this.............. everyone please take this advice...

Do not put off for tomorrow what you have always wanted to do.............. the future is not guaranteed to anyone... if I had waited to take these many trips... they never could be done now... health reasons for me and Gail would limit us now... we just decided that neither of us wanted to wake up on our death beds and look back on our life and say... "ghee, wish we had made that trip... or seen those sites..." There will always be things you don't get to do but do not put off too long, cause it may not get done....

BTW.... work has always been included in my travels... I can always justify a trip as related to my work.... for obvious reasons... there is always someone that I am looking for wherever I have gone... just document it and it is tax related.... keep receipts.

Gail and I have done a lot but we still have missed a lot.... like the guy says.............. "git r done"......... if God takes me today... I cannot complain... I have done far more than most in my short life and I still have plans for tomorrow.... and I can say... "I did it my way."

My facebook has a lot of pictures and I am fixin' to post a bunch from the "big trip" in a week or so... if anyone is interested... plus a lot of "truckin pictures"...

I got an eyepiece that connects to my spotting scope that hooks to my camera. Which, I can hook to my laptop. Basically out of laziness. For years it was binoculars. Its a pain to watch through binos for a long time, as Im sure many of you know and you can miss a crucial time if your not paying attention full time.

So, I got a 60x spotting scope with a window mount. That way you can train it on a house or whatever, from way off and just put your eye to it. From several blocks, probably close to a half mile, it looks like your standing on the front porch. Anyway, I got too lazy for that and got the adapter, now if you miss something, either on the camera or the laptop, you can rewind and freeze crucial points, while still recording. Pretty kewl stuff. I got the whole setup for a little of nothing on Overstocked.com a couple years ago. Works great.

BTW, kind of a funny pickup where this all started. We were watching a house from a few blocks off and had been there several hours. The taking turns with bino thing was getting old and we were gettin grouchy. We were in Springfield MO a few blocks from Bass Pro. We ran over there and got the spotting scope and window mount. In a few weeks, I did research and got the rest of the stuff. Best thing I ever did for surveilence.

Thread moved at Bill's suggestion and appropriately renamed ;-)
