Ok, another question for you guys...I have been using Costco/Nova now Elevon for my processing and I got a call from... I think it was "BluePay" at http://www.bluepay.com/I have been using my Costco related processor for around 6 years with basically no problems.... one charge-back on a fraudulent card that I missed... luckily it was recovered from the indemnitor later... so I am pretty satisfied with their fees and service... my overall cost factor is just over 2%, including my terminal (which is leased for $13 month)... I haven't swiped a card in 6 years... all my stuff is phone and still my costs are relatively low.... I add an admin. fee to large bonds which actually covers the fees (yes, yes... I know you can't do that but it is an admin fee on the bond and not reflected as covering the fee..... yeah, yeah.... constructive thinking... ) BluePay is a big outfit and some of you are probably using them, they have many complaints, especially if you look on 'Ripoff.com" and I checked them out but as far as I can tell... my Costco connection is about as good as it gets OVERALL. I figure rates and fees vary a bit but I just don't see a tremendous savings over time.... So, what is your take on CC processors... are they government regulated or is there one that stands out above the rest... or is it like cars and women.... matter of opinion and personal choice.... (cars and women fall into the same category as cc processors I think?!) ... in fact I like Chevrolets and redheads.... er... I also like redheads in Chevrolets.... but then.... this has nothing to do with CC processing unless you are paying for something.... like...... uh.... right...... the redhead in your Chevrolet...

Quote: this has nothing to do with CC processing unless you are paying for something.... like...... uh.... right...... the redhead in your Chevrolet... LMAO The company I work for has recently changed who they use . . . we charge a Flat Rate for the use a CC and that is passed on to the consumer as it a fee incurred by them for the use of their card and is added into the prem. so is not seen as a fee. However they are informed upfront that should they wish to use a card there will be an additional charge

I change our credit card company to QuickBooks. There is a program sold at Staples (Office Supplies Store) for QuickBooks that i can accept through my computer and my cell phone. The rates are so much cheaper then one of those big company's. All I do is, type in the card number, exp. date, and billing zip code. I have saved so much money with that program.............. The program cost me $39.95. Go to your office supply store an check it out and see for yourself. I'd write more about it, but I have to get things done for my vacation next week. Going to the smokey Mountains. The cabin is ccccaaaaallllliiinng for me.

Bill I use GovPayExp. It costs me nothing and that beats 2% from my point of view. My customers pay the fee and it is billed to their card. If they don't want to pay it, it is your choice, just pay me cash! Transaction is done over the phone, no equipment to lease or lug around, payment is direct deposited into my account.

Scott, Gov Pay is putting in bail kiosks all over California. They are getting bail clients to pay with a credit card instead of using a bail agent. They are also signing up with many S.O.s. They get the sheriff office personnel to do all the bail paperwork and kick back a percentage to them. Again cutting out the bail agent and charging a "processing fee" that amounts to a bail commission. Now right now they are only practical with bonds $5,000 and below because most people don't have high credit limits anymore. However, the last 3 bonds I wrote were all $5ks. You are helping the enemy!

Tony, Mr. Martz said the same thing a couple of years ago. I can only speak for my AO and they are not competing here. The fees they charge are sufficient enough to motivate most of my clients to pay cash.

As stated, if I run a card for one of my agents... I charge 3.5% which I take from the total and cut the agent a check for the reduced amount... I also charge an admin fee and if the bond is rather large... I simply place a larger admin on the premium and tell the folks up front that running credit cost money and they can simply go to the bank and get the cash and save it all... it has worked fine for me for years and basically has cost me nothing... in fact, I actually am pocketing about 1% overall on my card transactions cause most of the cards I run are for other agents. Anyway, that Gov.pay is interesting, I have used it occasionally for different stuff, but not bond premiums.
