You meet all kinds on the streets, and online. Everybody has their own approach that works for them, but that approach changes depending on the location and situation. We have made apprehensions in many different areas, and in many different attires. You have to fit in if you expect to be invisable until or when you close in. Depending on where you are, even your vehicle is a factor. If you are in the projects, a POS or nicely done up "pimp" car does nicely. If you are in a better area, a nondescript "better" vehicle works. We have a beat up POS, an older SUV, and a decent Taurus. The Taurus fts in most anywhere, the others are more specific. If you want to make a statement, drive a LE-type vehicle, or a fancy SUV to ID yourself. You will either get respect, or shot. Same with the dress. If you go in like LE, and the defendant and area is negative to such, you are causing a negative situation and putting yourself and your team in danger. If you conform to the defendant and area, and take them by surprise, you still need to be prepared for a problem, but your goal is to get them in custody and out of the area before anybody realizes what is happening. That way the bad guy goes to jail, and you go home safe.
That makes perfect sense.
