My favorite weapon of choice is Tazer C-2. It don't look like a LE Tazer nor a weapon. It is more compact than the other Tazers and can fit in your shirt pocket if desired. Due to the fact it don't look like a weapon, I can hold it in my hand along with a skip's file folder while talking to grandma and she usually doesn't even notice it. I have fired my Tazer twice so far during apprehensions (confrontations) with skips and both times it was dead on accurate and 100% effective. Once was in self-defense after recieving a right hook in the left temple. The other was to equalize speed between this 350 lb defensive lineman (me) and the 160 lb basketball player (fugitive). I confronted him and he bolted out the back door. He made it only 15 feet before lighting up like a Christmas tree. In both cases the skip asked on the way to jail just what the h*(&^ that was and that it scared them more than hurt. The fighter kept apologizing to me for making me have to use it. The runner (rabbit) said it didn't hurt much. He said he thought he had just tripped and fell. Both said they lost all control of their muscle functions.
I have been the idiot, I mean volunteer to be tazed on more than one occassion. I felt pain due to the fact that I had no adrenaline rush at the time and was expecting the shock. I also lost all muscle control during the experience. Their statements and comments along with my experiences as the target of a tazer lead me to believe this is truly an efficient and very valuable asset in our "tool box" as BEA's. I have been taught also that the odds of any dangerous effects of being tazed are very few. I would recommend a Tazer C-2 to anyone and everyone doing bail enforcement.
The C-2 also comes pretty much standard with a lazer sight and l.e.d. flashlight built into the end. I find this useful while clearing houses and dark closets. Using the light on the C-2 lights up the dark hiding places and the tazer is ready to fire if needed. It is already pointed at the target. You can get them at almost any gun store for about $350.00 and replacement cartridges are about 30.00 each.
As far as removing the barbs goes, you can remove them yourself as long as they are not stuck in the skip's face or genital area. The entry points don't usually even bleed due to carterization from the electricity. Just be careful touching the probes after use due to bio-hazard contact.
Oh yeah. They also can make a cat jump 10 feet off the ground and a frog cook well-done in seconds. Just kidding. ( A bored BEA is a dangerous BEA).
What do ya'll think?

It's been proven repeatedly that def's respect/fear being tazed more so than facing a drawn weapon. They know you wont shoot them, but they also know you will deploy the taser. I've had def's surrender almost immediately once they were facing being tazed....they didn't want any part of it.

I agree, most subjects know that the 50,000 volts means pain, and lots of it.

Carry one, paid for certification (have riden the lightning more than once), but have never used it for more than a tool for direction. Never deployed into a subject. Love the control that Taser allows me. That little red dot must have a calming agent in it.
