The problems we deal with and the reasons behind spelling everything out is the people we need to obtain information from. They all know the "Buzz" words like HPPA, GLB, Privacy Act etc. and desire to be in compliance. The reason for spelling everything out is to make them comfortable enough to provide the needed information. I always offer them a copy of the release of information so that they are comfortable that they did the right thing. I intend to modify my current one after Kathy's post to include all pertinent terms for the venture into the comfort zone.

LuVonda: Scott was referring to another situation that I was personally involved in recently case which he greatly facilitated acquiring hard to get information from a state bureaucrat (sp ?). It is always an awesome and humbling experience to witness the Master's of this craft in action.

If I may add some other areas to research:

1) State employment agencies. These databases often contain CORRECT addresses and contact information since the applicant has applied for work or unemployment compensation.

2) If you add a "Medical History" on your bond apps, nothing too personal or detailed, just for example who thier Dr's are, what medications they are on, what kind of re-curring or on-going treatments they are seeking, etc this information will aid in a fugitive case should they fta.

I have often discovered that a fugitive had a medical issue and following that lead resulted in thier apprehension. Hope this helps..:)

There is also a form that you can use at the post office to get physical address information if the box-holder is the person you are looking for. There is one specific to process serves and another for other purposes as long as you can prove a legal reason for requesting the information.

The forms that Kathy is speaking of is a Postal Services official form. I have never had a problem with using it, since she pointed me towards this paperwork.
