DESCRIPTION:
The Patrol Rifle/Carbine Operator course is a 16-hour course that
provides instruction and practical exercises focused on the specific
needs of the patrol rifle operator. The course includes the use and
application of the patrol rifle as it pertains to Law Enforcement and the
skills to properly maintain it. Students will gain hands-on experience
with the patrol rifle. The class will include, but will not be limited to,
the following topics: nomenclature, loading, unloading, stoppage
clearance, principles of marksmanship, reloading drills, care and
cleaning, low light firing, transition drills, use of cover, close quarter
battle, moving/multiple targets, firing on the move,
malfunction/stoppage drills, and qualification course of fire. This course is designed for
Law Enforcement, Private Security Details and/or Active Duty Military
Personnel.

All participants must have the following weapons and equipment: One
agency approved patrol rifle (AR-15/M-16 recommended) with military
loop sling, 500 rounds of factory ammunition for rifle, three 20/30 round
magazines for the rifle, service handgun with duty belt, three
magazines for handgun, 100 rounds of factory ammunition for handgun, cleaning
equipment for both weapons, hand-held, duty-type flashlight capable of
one-handed operation wrap-around eye and
ear protection, baseball or bowie hat, note taking material. Optional
equipment: knee/elbow pads, body armor, personal shooting pad, BDU type
uniform, sunscreen and water.
