Here's the link....

The suspect was taken to Meherrin River Regional... which happens to be one of my main jails... in fact... last nite I was on my way to do a bond on a DUI... talking to Yak on the phone and when I arrived... the jail was in lockdown mode.... they even checked my credentials when I entered the magistrates office... and all the officers know me from years but they still had to follow procedure....

... this is a very sad day in this area... Trooper Walker was a long time on the force... he will be missed... RIP.

Walker's marked police vehicle, which was down an embankment off the southbound lanes of the interstate near the woods

are your roads really that wooded ? I would think that his vehicle would have been up 'on the road', or was the 'stop' something that was not of the 'traffic nature' but rather something where he would have driven down the embankment to follow the suspects ? No matter . . . this is just horrible !

I-85, from the NC line to Petersburg... about 70 miles... is nothing but woods... I told you guys, I do live in the country... South Hill is the only town... I live 20 miles north west of South Hill... now as I understand it... and I will not be quoted on this, but I think this is what happened.... clarification will come later I believe... via the news...

... this took place in Dinwiddie county, just north of my home county... the trooper pulled up "beside" the vehicle... he was shot from the other vehicle.. and I understand it was a shotgun... apparently his foot hit the accelerator and went into the woods off the road... the shooter followed him into the woods and fired at least one more round while the trooper was in his car... that is what I have been told... again... this is not confirmed... another trooper arrived within a minute or two and exited his car and pursued the shooter into the woods. The other trooper exchanged fire with him but lost him at that point but later the shooter was captured.

That again is what I am hearing and is not confirmed.... my sources, cannot verify this.

Oh man. That makes sense. Some of the roads around here are like that . . . reason I asked.

Trooper Walker was laid to rest today... his funeral was televised on 2 of the 3 local channels and was on from 11am to 1:45pm.... pre-empted all other programming... they shut down I-85 southbound from Petersburg, exit 67 to exit 28... where he was buried... Lawrenceville.... small town in my neck of the woods... estimated 3000 people attended the church service... the funeral was private but the motorcade and procession to Lawrenceville was unbelievable... all the LE in attendance from all over the country... this was a major thing....
