Post subject:  State Mandated BEA Certification I.D. Cards

FYI

More and more states are requiring all BEA's have in thier possession that specific state's mandated BEA certification I. D. card with the following information:

1) Name, address, ht, wt, hr colour, eye colour, picture, and signature.

2) Issuing authority, current life of I. D. card (valid from__ to__)

3) Signature of issuing authority's representative.

I know for a fact that Tn. and Ga. do this; Al. does not (yet). These are the only states that I can comment on.

I believe, though I may be mistaken, that most of the New England states have a similar requirement, as well as Florida and California. Those of you who do work in these states can further advise on your respective states laws regarding this issue.

I have also been told that alot of states, like New York, do not accept over the counter, internet ready, out of magazine or catalog, generic I.D. cards with BEA, FRA logos or headings.

The only ID accepted in the State of Indiana for BEA's is your Indiana State Recovery Agents license. Only a Indiana State licensed BEA or Bondsman can arrest on a bail skip in this state.

NH doesn't issue an ID card. One only receives a letter from the Department of Insurance, Bureau of Securities Regulation. It is NOT a license, it is a registration (about the same thing as a license since specific criteria must be met). A licensed NH Private Detective does not need a license/registration but NH doesn't recognize any other state's BEA license or private detective license.

There are some who used to live in NH but still maintain their NH PI license and renew it when due; that will soon cease.

Nothing needed or required in Maine or Vermont.

Massachusetts has no requirements other than you cannot remove your skip from the state. If you are caught, you will be arrested and charged with kidnapping and illegal detention.
