I sure wish that these "facts" got wider attention.
I for years asked the American Bail Coalition and my surety company to counter the media lies about bail with facts like these.
Their answer, "its better to keep a low profile and not stir up more controversy."
So, the lies continue and we look like the bad guys, not the CRIMINALS!

Most people out there have no clue of how bail works or the amount of tax payer money being used to prosecute, defend and recover defendants that have fail to appear. I had to surrender a client at a small city jail a couple of days ago and the lady in charge of city court was amazed at how quick we can locate clients and surrender them. She actually offered me a job saying they have thousands of warrants on defendants released on misdemeanor summons. Any idea of the amount of money that could have been put back into the system there if they had let them bond out instead. Judicial welfare at work.
