OMG!

“Dog” or beth as the “face” of Bail?! You have got to be joking!

Yes, they have a reputation - but not something a “Professional” would consider good.
But I digress...

I guess I will have to look into attending the Feb 2011 meeting.

Although I am not active in the business currently (something I would like to change...)
However, I am still very much a part of the industry and the promotion of the "better side"

Today I found out that the PBUS lost money on the last two conferences in LV. That happened even with doggie and bethie being the featured speakers this past February.

You do not have to be a PBUS member to register and attend. The registration fee is just higher.

I am still thinking about how we can get recovery people at the table. Please, everyone should remember that I am a bail agent. Not a recovery agent and only go after my own with the help of Randy when I have to.

So, I am approaching them from the bail agent perspective and trying to get them them to understand that we need to include the recovery people in the discussion.

With that said, I did politely and with no respect to him, told the group that we need to get away from doggie as the face of bail. It will be a long and hard struggle to convince all of them to agree.

However, we do have some board members of the PBUS that agree with me and support my position.

For now, when I get back I need to finish work on the NABBI bylaws draft. Then we can really get down to getting NABBI up and running.

Finally had time to work on the NABBI bylaws draft. Just have a few more tweaks and will present them to the committee tomorrow, Tuesday.

After more tweaks by the committee they will be posted for everyone to have comments.

Now, it was brought up that maybe we should look at moving up next years meeting to get the org off the ground sooner. I am pretty much available anytime to do this.

So if the majority feel it is worth it to move up the 2nd annual meeting date, I would suggest that we look at late January or early February.

It would have to be some where in the South to help reduce the chance or bad weather causing travel problems.

Anyway, time to weigh in on this. What say you all???????????

I'm pretty much good for anywhere and anytime as long as there's plenty of notice but I do agree that we need to cultivate a sense of urgency and get this thing off the ground. Whether we need to push up the conference or find a way to collaborate as we are....the sooner the better.

I also think we should move up the meeting to maybe January or even sooner if possible! It does not have to be the annual meeting but maybe call it an emergency meeting or special circumstances meeting, anything that can get us together so we can get the Association off the ground.

Let get together!

OK gang, there are several ways we can do this.

1) A conference similar to how we had it in Vegas in June. It should be a 2 day event. We can find a hotel or hotel / casino with meeting rooms.

With this type of facility, if we guarantee "X" amount of room stays and a minimum food and beverage orders, they will give away the room rentals for free.

This way the cost is minimal to the "association" but the attendees must stay at the same hotel.

We would then guestimate the total costs and charge each attendee an equal amount.

2) Another way to do it is to just find a place with a large enough meeting room. The "association" would have to pay the rental fees. Attendees can stay anywhere.

We would have to charge attendees an equal amount to cover the rental fees and meals, if they are included.

The draw back for this setup is, if we have 100 people say they will attend and only 50 show up, the cost has now doubled for those that actually attend.

In either 1 or 2 above, we can try to offset the cost by having exhibitors rent tables from us to sell their services or products. We could also see if any surety companies or bail bond agencies would like to "sponsor" or donate to the cost of putting on the event.

So, we have to decide what type of setup we want. Then we can start looking for a location.

Since we are now talking about early next year, January or February, we should limit our choices to the South or near South to limit the chance of bad weather causing problems.

Also, the PBUS has its winter conference the week of February 19, 2012. We can not schedule ours any time near theirs otherwise will will not be able to attract exihibitors or sureties.

We will need to spread the word about the conference on other websites, through the sureties, state bail associations and anywhere else we can.

There needs to be at least 60 days advance notice to allow for people to plan to attend. We need to set up a procedure for nominating the executive board and the area directors. There has to be some way of verifying that a person is a bail agent or recovery agent.

I am sure there are other issues that need to be worked on, but this is a start.

Why can't we move forward at the crab smashin'? We will have reps from all over the country and some who were in Las Vegas...

Although I can't attend the crab smashin', I have faith in those likely to attend and concur with this suggestion.
