Guns, BB Guns, Paintball Guns, And Replicas, ‘Cause That Will Solve So Many Pressing Issues Posted by Admin Published in Nutcase Lawmakers, UTAH SOUTH JORDAN, UTAH - South Jordan city leaders are considering a ban on air guns, BB guns, paintball guns and some firearms replicas. Police say they’ve had more than 15 complaints in the past year and a half about fake weapons that were thought to be real. The police department recently responded to a 911 call of a man lying in the bushes with a rifle that turned out to be fake. Police are asking the City Council to ban certain kinds of weapons and the fakes. The rule would require residents to notify police if they plan to use items listed in the ordinance. Similar ordinances have already been passed in Salt Lake City, West Jordan, West Valley City and North Salt Lake. The South Jordan council is expected to discuss the proposal June 17. June 5, 2008 |

That's the scary part they actually think it will make a difference. Here in NYC it's illegal to have an unlicensed firearm but someone just got shot 2 seconds ago and it wasn't a licensed holder. What a difference the law just made. |

Try working around Washington , DC! The only ones that have guns are the criminals (and that includes law enforcement) I didn't mean to disparage both of the decent cops in DC, but that is only because I haven't run into any yet. I have been jacked by 6 cruisers while serving civil process in a coat and tie (because those clothes are so threatening) and detained for 45 minutes without cause. I have also locked up a drug addict with a ton of stolen tools from Lowes. He was living in a stolen van in an alley, with expired VA front tag and expired Maryland rear tag, with the ingition punched out. When we took him into custody, the cops jumped us. We pointed out the discrepancies with the van but they said it was too close to shift end to deal with it. We left and drove two blocks and then doubled back, yes they were throwing all of the stolen tools into the trunk of their car. They had left the scene when we did. Scott |

What a shame. I would think the officers in DC would have higher integrity than that. That is such a disgrace, but unfortunately they are all around. They went after you serving papers and apprehending....I mean why would they go after you so much? |

David It is the same reason that they lock up the people buying the drugs but don't go after the guy dealing them...it is safer. Much more dangerous to go after a dealer who is armed and prepared to fight off intrusions from other dealers looking to take their drug stash and money than the drug user who is only concerned with getting high. In DC, if you don't look like you are from there, they believe that you are there to buy drugs or bounty hunting. Either one of which will get you at the very least detained for a considerable amount of time. If you don't consent to searches, and I don't, it only exacerbates the situation. I don't consent not to be difficult, but in my assertion of my civil rights. In DC, one bullet in your car will get you 5 years, no tolerance. Same for a weapon. They are very difficult to deal with and will tell you that bounty hunting by what ever name is illegal in DC, which it is not. Since I write bonds in MD and VA, a great majority hide in DC thinking that you won't come after them. We do. The fact that we get hassled all of the time is not by our actions our how we present ourselves, but by the fact that we are there. I am quite sure that others on this forum that work this area will confirm what I am saying. Scott Scott |

You are correct Scott, most skips hide D.C. because they have been told the city has a "NO BOUNTY LAW", this as you know is not true. The issue is, as per 'MPDC" general orders a police officer can not assist a bail bondsman, or his agents. Secondly no one can carry firearms in the city unless you are a active LEO or retired LEO covered by HR-238. If found with a weapon(gun) you will be charged with "CPWL" and facing ten years in jail, if found with a knife or any other kind of weapon in some parts of the city you will charged with "CDW/PPW(a) which is a five/ten years in jail depending on your past history. |

Then there is Georgia..... You can now carry anywhere, (including restraunts that serve alcohol, bus stations, hospitals, and public venues that are not owned and run by government agencies) so long as you are licensed to carry. This new ruling was just started on Monday. The only place that is in question is the Atlanta airport. The lawyer that was heading up the push for relaxing the gun laws claims that one of the main reasons for it was to be able to carry in the airport, which he frequents. The mayor and the CEO (of the airport) say that it falls under a different jurisdiction than the public so you may carry on the public transit system but if you step over the line seperating Marta from the airport, you will go to jail for a felony. I will allow others to press this issue but I am awaiting the outcome of what will become of this, when most LE are completely against it and have been putting the word out about where "they feel" you can and can't go while carrying. |
