I have been offered "items" several times instead of cash for bail premium. I never accepted anything other than cash, checks or credit cards.

Don't know what this case was about but I would not accept a firearm as payment or as collateral, unless it was done through a FFL. And even then it would have to be something that its value would cover the bond in the event of a forfeiture.

I know this bondsman... Zimmerman Bail Bonds has been around for many years.. this should prove to be an interesting case...

I have personally never known anything shady about Wayne but you know how this business is.... I have dealt with him several times in the past... he has given me bonds in my area that he could not get to.... I have run into him many times in the jails that I have worked over the past 10 to 15 years... I will follow this one close...

Bill, please keep us updated as to where this case goes. I've been trying to keep up with all the negative articles concerning the bail bonding business. It's one thing to be charged with a crime and quite another to be convicted. Many articles concerning bondsman being brought up on charges have been posted here. I seldom see a follow up as to the outcome. I did, however, follow up on several cases to find that many that have been charged were found not guilty. The latest is out of California. "Now where does he go to get his reputation back" Somebody else said that.

Bill

Even though Pontillo, the CA agent was not convicted in a criminal court, the Dept. of Insurance in an administrative hearing found enough evidence to revoke his license.

License revocation is not dependent on a criminal conviction, at least not in CA.

I will say from personal inside sources, there was more than enough to revoke the license, which for the CA Dept of Insurance, they require a lot of evidence. They look at Insurance Code violations not necessarily penal code violations.

He was found not guilty for crimes he was accused of committing in a court of law. I wasn't referring to his license!

Please allow me to correct something on this case... the defendant in this case was David Wayne Schneider.... not Wayne Zimmerman.... same company, different person... two different people and I did not notice this until I reread the article... any misinformation I may have contributed to ............... is wrong.... sorry... I'm old and can't see too well... but that is no excuse.................

Can I take this test again?... I have my reading glasses now.............. 8) 8) 8)

As a follow up... he was charged with "18.2-108.1; REC STLN/AID IN CONCEAL FIRARM" and was arrested on the same date... 1/21/2015... he was advised on 1/27 and then at the trial date... 3/9/2015... the case was dismissed.

... so that is the end of this story...
