This article reminds me of my bail-writing days in Nevada. We had to pay a posting fee of $40.00 per bail bond at the jail. Back then, bail agents could "stack" the bail bond with as many charges as they could fit on the face sheet and power of attorney, provided that all of the charges fell under the same court case number and that the bail bond was to be filed with the Justice Court or the District Court. Bail bonds that were filed with the Municipal Court were not blessed with such graces; bail agents had to post a separate bail bond for each, individual charge, even if the charges fell under the same court case number. The downside of "stacking bonds" was that if a defendant forfeited on one charge, but not the others, the bail agent was held liable by the courts for the full amount of the bail bond, not just the bail amount that was set for that single charge.
