I guess I am just too damn old school and too laid back but I don't dress like a swat team... I don't scream and yell... I don't put my foot on them or belittle them in any way... I just can't see it...

I have never kicked down a door, although I have had a weapon in my hand but never pointed it... I do put cuffs on them but I talk in a calm respectful manner and I just can't understand why more recovery agents get in deep do do by acting the way they do....

Maybe I need to take a course in how to be a bad azz.... I watch these videos and frankly, I get more upset with the way the agent is working than the defendant (skip)....

It has been my experience that even hardened criminals can be handled easily if you talk in a calm respectful manner... now you can chew on me of you wish... and I know there are times when you have to go in as Billy Bad Azz... but 99% of the time... I just don't think you need to act like that....

... sorry guys... that is my deal and it has worked for me for almost 13 years.

I will clarify this a bit by saying if I feel there is a chance I'm gonna need a bit of muscle... I just call Matt Arnold or Scott MacLean or Bill Williams and then I go take a seat in the local McDonald's and drink a strawberry milkshake and let them "get R done"... 8)... they do all the screaming and yelling.. while I am watching... "Little House on the Prairie"

I'm with ya Bill. I've never kicked in a door, drew down once, only because the skip, a heavy duty drug dealer put the word out that he would kill me when he saw me and given the chance, that's exactly what he would have done. I have never put anybody, with the exception of one man in jail without first making sure he had a few bucks for canteen. I ALWAYS tell em "it's nothing personal, just business." Do I go in strong? Sometimes i do, but I always take control of the situation from the get go and when the skip is under control and restrained, game over! Heck, people that I've put in jail call me on a pretty regular basis and ask how things are going. Now before people start saying, well you're in NC, you don't deal with the type peole I deal with. I've made apprehensions in over 30 states and yes we have really nice skips in NC.

None of the above is meant to come off as bragging, I just do my work covertly and almost always the skip has no idea I'm even around until he's cuffed. Yep, it might take me a few hours longer to apprehend em that way but I really enjoy going home and knowing I'm probably not going tgo be sued and i also find it much less dangerous....Anyways, that's my take on it and it works pretty good for me so I'll just continue doing it this way....

I wholeheartedly agree with you both. I believe that if you treat people with respect and allow them to keep their dignity, they will cooperate most of the time, even the biggest and baddest. Most times they understand it's just business. I've even had folks thank me for being respectful and treating them with kindness.

My momma always told me that I would get more flies with honey rather than vinegar.

LOW IMPACT! it gets you home every night safely. Remember, you have to remember all of the people you pick up, they only have to remember you, why give them a reason?
