I would like to know what federal and state case laws allow one who is not LEO to carry handcuffs into a court house.

There is no such animal. You can't even bring a handcuff KEY into a courthouse. (I've lost a couple this way.)

Beats me. I've only been allowed to bring handcuffs into one courthouse. That was in Las Vegas, Nevada. For the most part, I was not allowed to cuff people inside of a court room, but the hallways were fair game. I can only recall two incidents where I was allowed to handcuff a defendant inside of a court room. That was only after having received the judge's blessing.

I can't speak for any law allowing cuffs to be brought into a courtroom but I can tell youI've done it on many occassions, with no problems. I've never apprehended a skip inside the courtroom but have apprehended many in the halls. I'm referring to NC Courthouses only.

I don't know the bondsman in question here but I do know Forsyth County can be a really tough area to work if you're a Bail Agent. Judges don't like you, LE doesn't like you, bailiffs don't like you etc etc etc. As usual, I'm witholding judgemement on this one. Anxious to see the facts come out.

I concur, I would like to see where this goes. However it appears it is a lot issues going on with this gentleman and all seems to be related to his being an alleged law enforcement officer. I sort of laughed at what Bill W. said , My father was born Kernersville in the 1930’s and I use to visit there as a child along with Winston –Salem the family farm. I can say first hand Forsyth County is not all that great.

I can see if he was surrendering a defendant to the custody of the court, that maybe they would allow him to bring a cuffed defendant into the court house.

Of course each state and even some counties have their own rules about what can or can't be brought into a court house.

As Tom stated, in CA you can't even bring in a cuff key.

I have miniature handcuffs key chains that has our company name an phone number on a little plastic tag attached to them.

They are barely big enough to place on your little finger.

I can't take them into any court house in CA.

I've only had one such occasion where I have brought handcuffs into a court room. But that was for a capture. All other occasions I find it's best to leave the toys in the car.
