Awesome ! I am glad some state is cracking down on this ... If FLORIDA did this "STING" here at the Miami Dade County Jail they would nab an easy 25 Bail Bondsman at any time of the day or night Illegally Soliciting Clients on Jail Property or as we better know it in the Industry "HUSTLING"... The FL Dept of Financial Services is more worried about if we open our offices up at 9 am and close before 5pm and have our files in order rather than these Yahoo Bail Bondsman running amuck at the jail stealing potential business ! |

I will say this................ if LE and the powers that be, were to truly crack down on this activity.... over half if not 3/4 of the Virginia bondsmen would be out of business. It is rampart everywhere.... nationwide, IMHO... not only in jail but around and in the courthouse, the police stations, the magistrates office and everywhere else... solicitation goes on everywhere. I have certainly been guilty of it, although I truly do try not to do it because I don't wish to lose my license.... but I dare say there is not a bondsman in this business that has not ask that question of persons in close proximity of courthouses, jails, magistrates offices or other court related areas were soliciting is absolutely against the law. I can't tell you the number of times I have jokingly said.... "Anyone here need a bondsman?".... as I walk out of certain facilities and that is absolutely soliciting.... what can I say............ I am being honest but it is much more blatant and serious than that.... I have seen bondsmen hand out cards inside the courthouse, in the jails and in front of the courthouses.... it is a very thin line that separates the legal and illegal activities of bondsmen.... As long as some do it.......... all will do it and it won't stop until serious control is brought to bear on the bondsmen.... In the DCJS meeting that I attended last month... this was the number one item on the table and the most talked about problem bondsmen faced with other bondsmen...... I dare say it won't get fixed as long as it is left unaddressed by those that control it. |

It is rampant here. In front of the main Orange County Jail, the Twin Towers in LA and Parker Center (LAPD HQ) there are usually a minimum of 5 agents (whether actual bail agents or just reps for the company varies) at all times. |

Man, that activity places us in a very bad light! Kind of reminds me of the guys that wash your windshield at an intersection in hopes of getting a handout. This needs to be addressed. |
