I just got off the Asheville Citizen-Times online newspaper and can not believe what it said. A man was arrested on second degree rape of someone who was mentally incapacitated at the time. The defendant was released on a written promise to appear!!!!!!! NO BOND. What was the Magistrate thinking? :twisted:

That is a lawsuit waiting to happen. If anything happens while he is out someone is going to own that county.

This is not the only crazy shi* they have done lately. A guy was arrested for trafficing herion, and a lady had 20lbs of marij. both were written promise to appear. About 1yr ago a man was arrested for failure to appear on habitual felon-DWI and given a written promise. This is a crazy county. Get caught with a small amount of pot and get $8,000-$10,000 bond.

That or the drug dealers sang like a canary to get out. I got a regular out last night for harassing phone calls, bond $2,000. His g-friend does this on a regular basis and never shows up for court. Seems like something is very wrong with the system!!!!
