What is more troubling is the comments by the very uniformed readers. We have a lot of educating to do!

The article itself was rather vague and just provided some details of the incident.

You are right some of the comments are disturbing.

I know how I would have handled this situation based solely on the information provided, however I would like to hear from our more seasoned and knowledgeable members.

What would you have done in this situation?

I wasn't there, but would have never discharged a weapon in a non life threatening situation. If the bondsman discharged his weapon, he should have called LEO immediately and remained on scene. He could have exacerbated the problem by pursuing him. If the defendant has such history, as the report indicated, the apprehension, or attempt should have been more thoroughly planned or with LE assistance, just to keep the peace and mitigate potential liability or injury to the public, whom this defendant has no regard for.

It's always hard to second guess the actions of another without having been there...

HOWEVER, based on the information provided, it seems as though at best he chose a very poor course of action, and at worst, could be facing some charges.

Situations like these are best handled through a coordinated effort with law enforcement, IMHO.

Trap, not that it means anything, but I couldn't agree with you more. I'm always wary of convicting somebody based on what I've read. This one does look bad howvwer, guess we'll see.

I would say that in his defense... the above statement may play a very large role.... I can tell you that if I was in fear of my life... I would very possibly do the same thing.... although, if I was inside my vehicle, I may have just used my car to defend myself... I would have to think quickly about the gun thing... if the guy had pulled a weapon, I would not have hesitated but inside the car... well, hindsight is always 20/20.............

... if he could have gotten to his Clorox pistol.... he may have stopped him.................................. 8)
