Want to see something I'm really proud of? Go to this link and type in the name Stiles in the "find" bar or scroll down to page 12. And to think it all started with crab smashing in Maryland taught to her by you know who. http://knoxfocus.com/pdfarchive/wk4.pdf |

You should be proud, Joe! Remember, my daughter Amanda picked up her first skip at 14, so Marlie has a legit shot at beating that record and becoming the youngest documented female bounty hunter! We don't give out trophies for smashing crabs, now oyster shucking is a different matter.... Scott |

Tell her that one of the "FRN Uncles" said great job. My brother and his three kids go to local tournaments, also. They are all junior belts but I enjoy seeing my 30 year old brother getting kicked around by kids....it funny. he is 6'8", 285 so watching a 16 year old, 105 pounder racking up points is hilarious. One of his daughters is opposite. She is 8, 63 pounds and can "point out" against older, more senior belts. I believe that this is wonderful for most children's mental development so long as they keep the honor, respect, and disipline. Again, great job. |

I don't know about the Olympics, but she will be competing in her first international tournament the first week in August in Cobb County, GA. There will be teams there from South Korea, Pakistan, Australia, Canada and a few more countries. It will be interesting to see how she stacks up against that kind of competition. Regardless of how she does, I am very proud of her. I have tried to teach her that true peace in life comes from confidence not arrogance and strength not weakness. Those are sometimes difficult lessons to learn as a child, but so far she seems to have adapted well. |

If she does well against the international competition, she can try for the Olympics. TaeKwondo is the only "karate" style in Olympic competition. I studied and taught so long ago, I can't even remember how to tie my belt. |
