Well, I just got back from picking up two skips in Middlesboro Kentucky for A Hood Bonding. Since that fellow was fairly a new guy on this forum, and not well received due to a possibly misconstrued statement, LOL, I figured I'd post my experience with them. Although I must confess I worked at a discounted rate (I only charged 10 percent of the bond plus 1.00 per loaded mile) they paid me on the spot and even had their bondsman meet me at the state line twice. The reason I did it for so cheap (this run was about 350 miles away from my home county) was all that contraversy about Kentucky pickups. Although I didn't have a "run in" with the local law enforcement I managed to convince the two skips, after tracking them to their individual residences IN THE BOONNIES... thank god we took a 4x4) to voluntarily turn themselves in and they even signed some forms I had prepared. For you guys doing skips in KY I suggest a version of a REQUEST FOR TRANSPORT stating the following may aid being charged for a violation of krs 440.270: Request to Transport Form I am voluntarily requesting and contracting transportation to: (INSERT BOND COMPANY NAME) (YOUR COMPANY) and/or any of it’s employees or assigns. In addition: • I understand and affirm that I am not being detained, arrested, or removed and; • I will not be billed for the requested transportation and all costs for such will be paid by (insert name of bond company) in a prior arrangement on my behalf. SIGNATURE AND DATE ---- of course getting them to sign it is entirely dependant on your pursuasivess and diplomacy. Notice it turns you into THEIR transportation agent and it is using the exact terminology dictated in the krs as to what what you are NOT doing. Should such a course fail I have come up with a form to aid in obtaining a warrant for your KY skips. Pretty easy here it is: REQUEST FOR WARRANT I, (INSERT YOUR NAME), having been contracted by (INSERT YOUR CONTRACTOR), do solemnly swear that the following information is true and correct to the best of my knowledge. Name: (name of skip) DOB: (dob of skip) SSN: (ssn of skip) has been charged in the State of (INSERT STATE) with the commission of a crime, has fled from justice and, having broken the terms of his bail, is believed to be located in the Commonwealth of Kentucky; Subject is believed to be located at the following address(s): (INSERT ADDRESSES) Based on the above information, a copy of the bond, and/or any other applicable documents (attached to this form), I am requesting a warrant be issued pursuant to KRS 440.270. SIGNATURE TITLE AND DATE. (ATTACH COPY OF BOND, INFO, WARRANT or any other pertinent documents) ----- for those of you familiar with the KRS you will notice the direct and in some cases exact uses of the phrases contained therein. Now all the KRS says is that a credible person swear under oath to the above info to the judge and that he SHALL ISSUE the warrant if you meet those requirements, so you may not even have to meet with the judge. You may be able to swear to it to the County Attorney or even a LEO in a complaint. Should you do so, make sure you get a Case number. For those of you who have experience in obtaining a warrant and being especially familiar with it myself as far as KY is concerned... it is damn near the exact same way a LEO or County Attorney would obtain a warrant themselves. Though I would recommend just going to the court house and talking to the judge. Another benefit of the REQUEST FOR WARRANT form is that a completed one shown to family members or even the skip can help in their decision to "take care of their responsibilities". If you would like these forms sent to you in DOC format for easy editing and let me know. |

I would like the docs, please. We don't have too many skips going to KY, but it's nice to have the paperwork if we do. Thank you! |
