I know we have posted about this before and as you know I hold the same type of license here in Erie County, PA and I am the only person in my County that holds that type of license.

It didn't cost me anything to register my license with the County Clerk's Office and if I want to post bonds I can use either cash or real estate up to the assessed value.

I don't know what the problem is in your County, their probably unfamiliar with your type of license, you should ask them to call Erie County for advice on how it's supposed to be handled, as far as the attorney's fees it's outrageous, remember we can only charge 10% for the first $1000 and 5% for anything over one thousand, it will take you a while to recoupe those attorney's fees.

I only have my Bail Bondsman License because it enables me to do recovery work in certain other States as long as the Bond was written in PA, if you want to write Bonds you should get a Producer License and write through an insurance company.

You know I really got into this business to work as a bail enforecent agent, I don't mind writing bonds, but boy! paying a attorney this kind of money makes me shy away from writing bonds. I have contacted the county clerks office and they are the ones who's telling me I need to have an attorney, but thaks for your response and I think you are right about the outrages amount for the attorney fees.

If your not going to write bonds I wouldn't bother registering your license with the county, your still licensed by the PA Dept. of Insurance and your license can be verified by them, If you want to work as a BEA you should begin focusing on finding someone in the business to mentor you, I'm always looking for good people to assist with cases on occassion but I'm on the opposite side of the State, I'm willing to help out if I can, feel free to e-mail if I can be of assistance.
