Pennsylvania does not currently have any licensure or state requirements for Bail Recovery Agents.

However, Pa. House Bill 65 was passed by the House Judiciary Committee
on 01/27/2009 and will most likely be passed by the State House of Representatives.

Additionally you must have Pa. Act 235 certification.

Try to refrain from Identifying yourself as Agent ... or others that way as well. It will keep you out of trouble. Just as a matter of contract law, if you are not working a case, you are not an agent of anybody. Further, many states absolutely outlaw the term/phrase/name that intimates that you are a federal police officer.

Not a slam, just FYI

You need to see if Marshall will take you under his wing. Just as a mechanic can become a tool-a-holic, Bail Enforcement Professionals can be attracted to a bunch of expensive and neat toys. You will be more profitable with out them. Concentrate on personal protection...level 3A vest, search gloves, Mag light, long cuff key, multiple pairs of hand cuffs (the time you find out that your cuffs don't fit the fugitive or that you need to link 2 or 3 pairs together is the same time the does!)

Remember, that when you use sprays of any kind, everybody gets it, and they can and will disable your partners and you are alone to handle business. Lots of planning and thought should go into all of your actions, as there may be serious repercussions. Personally, I teach and practice "Low Impact" fugitive recovery.

Call Marshall.
