Recently several self-proclaimed "bounty hunters" have contacted myself and others here on FRN regarding wanted fugitives advertised in that section of this forum. The gist of these letters range anywhere from the extremely idiotic to the unreal. "Hey, we have your fugitive, we want $10,000.00 for him/her", "We know where your fugitive is, we want 20% plus expenses", "Hey, need help with your case ? We are experienced bounty hunters with yadda yadda yadda..." I'm not looking for "bounty hunters", I'm not hiring "team members", I don't farm cases out to total strangers based on a few short lines of generalized statements in an e-mail. This issue only reinforces my belief that a professional business writing course should be required in all bea courses, certifications, license apps, etc. In my opinion, and based on all of the business courses I have taken, a typical letter of solicitation reads something like this: " 1,2,3, Investigations, Inc. 1,2,3, Anywhere Street Any city , Any state 12345 xxx-xxx-xxxx E-mail:_________ Sir/Ma’am, Please allow me to introduce my company to you....yadda yadda yadda..... We have x amount of years of experience in Law enforcement, Military, yadda yadda, yadda. I understand you are looking for a fugitive by the name of Mr. John doe. I firmly believe that my company is more than capable of facilitating this fugitives apprehension and return to justice. If you feel we may be of service, please feel free to contact me at :____________________________________________ Professional Regards, _____________________________ Owner 1,2,3, Investigations, Inc." |
