This is going to include two informational posts. I have not found a news peice on the one incedent but I have been told about it from several mutual associates. The second, I have personal knowledge of.... 1) A local Recovery Oprative was shot while attempting to serve a warrant on a known Mexican Mafia memeber. The operative, only known as "Tiny" approached the LKA of the SIQ only to be shot at numerous times. As he turned to find cover he was stuck in the back 4 times. At this time, there are no life-threatening injuries and he is expected to make a full recovery. This was a follow up on a case that I had worked with others...several months ago, that had gone cold. On the night we were at the house, I had posted in some trees behind the house to stake out the property while others were positioned in several other areas. When a team member aproached the house, one subject claimed to not speak english and went to get someone that did. Within minutes, 3 car loads of males (all claiming to be in the MM) arrived and told the team member to leave. Advisably, he did, although everyone else stayed in their positions, watching the house. After many hours (about 6 hours, in the woods, at night) we called off the surveilance and the case soon went cold and was turned over to Tiny. I feel for the person that got shot. I know of him and have only heard good things about him. I only felt that he and the situation, should be mentioned since it doesn't seem to be covered by any news channels or papers. 2) One of our own, Hope (my wife), will be going in for surgery on Wed. 07/09/2008. She has been suffering with severe abdominal pain and vomiting for several weeks. Doctors were not able to find the cause until today due to the lab results and symptoms constantly changing. They now know that she has to have her Gall Bladder removed (not a big deal) and that she has had several Gall Stones that have lodged in her Bile Duct (Semi-serious). The Gall Stones have shut off passage of anything past her Pancreas and has backed up into her Liver (Fairly Serious). The hope is that once the Gall Bladder is removed, the pressure on the lodged stones will release and everything will pass and eventually clean out her system. If not, another (very minor) surgrery will be required to remove all "foriegn" objects and waste. My hope is that she will be back in working order to return to the mean streets, very soon. She is most helpful when I am dealing with women and children...I'm not sure how to deal with them, if she's not with me. So all of this being said, I depend on her in the field and in the home. Please remember her in your prayers, if nothing else, for my sake. The longer she is out of commission, the longer I don't eat, sleep, or feel right. |

Thanks, everybody. I am sure we will pull through, alright.... as long as I don't burn the house down trying to boil water or end up blowing away because we can't eat my cooking . I am concerned with Tiny, though. I was worried when we were at the SIQs location. Now knowing that he got shot there has me going "WOW, how freakin lucky were we?" and that is without taking anything away from Tiny. As I said, from what I have heard about him for the last year, he is a great guy, very professional, yet this still happens. I just hope he is OK but no one knows how to reach him or his family and the ones that do (also very professional) won't give out the info. |

Thanks, everyone. If you have any really good recipes, I could use them. I can follow directions, really well, I just don't cook, from the hip, well. This is my main concern...well, that and she is so hard headed that I will end up having to tie her in bed to keep her from cooking and cleaning. Good thing I have handcuffs |
