One more time . . . This has been brought up here more than once and was even the 'reason' for creating the "Private Discussions" . . . It did not get too far. Then a couple of individuals created yet another "Private Forum" for the purpose of same and it did not last too long. I feel that it would be a wonderful IDEA to have someone that could lobby honestly (can politicians even do that, be honest I mean), and the Insurance and so on . . . that all sounds great too. But given the number of humans that would have to be involved and the money that would be moved about . . I am sorry that just leaves it . . . open for disaster. I had stated that I did not think that the creation of the "Private Section" had gotten the idea of a National Organization too far. That is not true. What has occured here in the past three + years is that a Network of Trusted Individuals has come together that I find to be Formidable Force in this Industry. I am no where near as articulate as some others here. But if you want to be a part of a GOOD THING . . . Stick around participate in the forum become a part of. |

The original article was accidently deleted - we started getting some terrific feedback from a multitude of members. We would like to know your thoughts and what you believe would be needed to form a National Association that would benefit you. |

I somewhat remember some of the ideas that all have posted in the previous threads. I just want to extend my support if it should become a reality. I know it's not an easy task and that all of us need to participate for it to work. Many of the great qualities in an association I believe are already being implement here on the FRN. I have confidence in some here which I have received quality advice from and some that I haven't had the pleasure of talking to yet all because they are associated with some that I am beginning to know (not talking about the newbies). Didn't mean to confuse anybody.............I read it again and got kinda confused myself. But I think you get the point...............right ...........I hope. |

One of the biggest issues I believe we face in forming a national association is funding. For the majority of our industry, this work is truly a hobby. There seems to be a common misconception that there is big money in recovery work, yet the market is usually very tight and the payoffs usually small. With that said, the primary need is in lobbyist costs, etc. I do believe that we have, combined, the resources necessary to form an association and create the structure to support communication and collaboration, which is evident by the progress made by this forum. If we have open, effective, and productive communication and collaboration, we have the foundation that is needed to unite and be a strong voice in this country. Technically speaking, it doesn't take too much financing to support this network...database management, directories, communications, etc. Like I said, the money is in the lobbyists. I would say, however, that we might find the voice necessary to act as a lobbyist among ourselves. A lobbyist is nothing more than a voice to the issue. And I'm sure we can find eloquence and presentability somewhere in our midst, despite our rough edges. heh Beyond all that, we have to be a group willing to be open to each other and collaborate on issues. So the only thing that will hold us back will ultimately be ourselves. Until then, we are each representatives of our industry. We must each conciously create the image that we want to present to our communities and our society. As long as we are united in our conversation, we are united in our cause. |

Very well said. Thank you Caz. There are two other threads here that are directly related to this topic . . . albeit they are way older but should be re-read. I think would be good to re-fresh those that were still here prior to, remind us of how far we have come and . . . it will educational to the new ones . . . I have 'bumped' the two Topics . . . 1) Who's In and Who's Not ~ author ~ Hounddog 2)National Organization ~ Author ~ RWB These Topics are found inthe Private Section . . . |
