Post subject:  BEA Insuring Companies

Hello All,

First post and firstly i'd like to thank everyone for the valuable info your posted, it all helps. Hgunner also has helped off-forum and helped with the direction we are pursuing.

I have a question about the bond necessary to fulfill in order to become a licensed BEA in New York.

I have been to the Dept of Insurance homepage and have called several numbers they have listed as Bondsman insurance companies, but when i make a call to them; its almost as they dont understand what im asking for.

i express to them that im a certified BEA and that i need a bond in order to become a licensed BEA. They absolutely have no clue.

Does anyone have a link or a recommend list of agencies that i can contact for such a service. Again im in New York, certified BEA; looking to obtain a bond to then obtain a BEA license.

Thank You in advance..

Lenny

Ok,

Called the company that David suggested and they cant help because im in NY. They can only assist a Indiana BA. They couldnt recommend anyone either.

Is there any NY BEA that can refer me to an agency that can issue us a Professional Licensing Bond? Also what is the amount this bond should be in?

Thanks in advance

David,
Thanks again.. Im confused, what kind of company should i be looking for? where are you getting these companies from?

Every company i call they have no clue what im looking for or they dont do this type of bonding. There is absolutely no info or guidance anywhere on who to contact for this service.

David,

The gentleman at that agency was a super help. But according to him, he has never issued a bond in the amount we were told was needed ($500,000). According to him, $10,000 is all that is necessary to bond for and submit to NY State and obtain a BEA license.

We have called so many people and no one has a definitive answer. Im reaching out at this point to anyone who is a LICENSED BONDED BEA in NY to please assist here.

Is this why everyone recommends not to work in NY as a BEA?

Thanks in advance..

Lenny,
If you are talking to Bondsman they may require you to have $500,000 liabilty Insurance to give you any case's this is a common practice we have one company that requires one million dollar policy. We carry 3 million liability as we also do Body guard & EP work. I will see what i can find out for you for sure i can't belive that the NY Dept of insurance can not tell you what the fees are.

Lenny,
going by your State law it is a $10,000 bond plus your license fee, and test fee.
