Post subject: | Memorial Section |
Ive really enjoyed all the ideas ive read on here for the time ive been on here with you guys. But one of the best ideas ive heard yet is a more recent one. The idea that Ruffin and my sisters came up with about a "memorial section" type of thing, i think, is a wonderful idea. It still even feels weird not having some of us family on here talking with us anymore. Lets put aside i nice little section for them so we can always have something to go into, read, and smile knowing that our fallen brothers and sisters are enjoying and smiling right along with us from a better place. God bless us all, but god bless especially all those who smile down upon us from the heavens who have shed SO much light on our lives. Thanks guys, Rick |

I agree. Maybe Phill can set one up and the posts honoring our fallen comrads can be moved?? |

But maybe we can make it so that only Moderators can post there, so that we avoid these idiots running around saying something stupid as replies, as it has happened in the past. Its still feeling kinda weird thinking the HGunner is gone seeing how i still see his name at the bottom of the main topic page of the forum section of the site. =( Man, it really stinks seeing such good people go away..... |

Rick, The Memorial Section would be established as part of the secured areas...such as the "Discussions" area is now. Only verified agents would be allowed in. Or if it was made in the "open Forum", we, the moderators, could keep it "locked". if someone wished to make a comment, it would go through 1 of us first. If it is appropriate, we could then add it...anyway, there are a number of ways of keeping the memorials intact professionally. |

Hey Ruffin, I think it would be cool to have the memorial section public. More exposure, more comments, more memories. There are easy ways to keep spam out of it, and in the RARE case of someone leaving a negative comment, it can be managed fairly easily. OR... The memorial section could only be "submitted content" that someone collects, filters and then posts edited (for length or clarity) comments on a page devoted to our remembered brother (sister). I will volunteer my time to manage this section and also come up with the design of the page(s). If we want to come up with an entire new website (domain name etc) for this, I could do it as well. If we do it here on FRN, I will need limited access to post files etc. This means a lot to me (I guess I am getting older and sentimental) and I want to be sure that people are not just forgotten with time. Let me know what your ideas are to what extent I can help. |

Daron, I think a seperate website dedicated to fallen BEA's is an excellent idea. There are others who aren't member's here that get killed in the line of duty..such as the father of 3 in Fl last year. I say your idea, your project, make it happen. Remember what they used to teach us in the military...never volunteer for anything.... |
